Ty PiperJul 29, 2012 lol lr4s aren't girly at all! ya know what's girly??? your mom! oh wait....
Morgan DameJul 28, 2012 ive had a g wagen and no not a used one from '03 but a brand new 2011 g550 and we took it offroading every sunday, it climbed over everything
Jack HowardJul 28, 2012 How is an LR4 girly? The LR2 is a little but LR4? No...
Brent BennettJul 28, 2012 Where's the Ford Bronco & the International Scout in this article???
Michael KozlowskiJul 28, 2012 @ Jenni, well obviously you don't because I have the accounts on video along with me pulling out a decently modded up jeep. And don't call my LR4 girly just because I've had to save a couple of your beloved g wagons from an off-roading mess
Patrick SchalkJul 27, 2012 To be fair Jenni, it has three locking diffs that will never be locked.
David JusticeJul 27, 2012 These things are beasts! And if I ever get the privilege to own one, it doesn't mean I HAVE to take it off road because it's an SUV. Let's be real. If you own a sports car, you're not going to redline at every red light. But nice to know you CAN.
John SerelyJul 27, 2012 I guess if I lived in a place with bad weather, I'd DD the g wagen and use the old jeep for off roading
John SerelyJul 27, 2012 I guess for off roading, I'd take an old jeep with lots of mods, for everything else, I'd take this
Miguel JimenezJul 27, 2012 For the price of the G wagon I'd rather a Ram Runner or Jeep Wrangler.
Aaron CartwrightJul 27, 2012 @patrick very true, most of them will never go off road, well at least the ones bought in big city's but get out of the city and you'd be suprised to see how many you see with huge bumpers, snorkels etc.. See a few drivin around the bay erea as well
Carlton SalmonJul 27, 2012 As much as I am a flag waving Brit and love and support every variation of the Land Rover Defender, my hard-earned would be heading for a G-Wagen every day of the week.
Patrick SchalkJul 27, 2012 I don't doubt their capability, but they're never offroad. My buddy had an old Disco and it was cool but he never wanted to take it anywhere, like most Land Rover owners.
Aaron CartwrightJul 27, 2012 Oh and my friends 4x4 99 Tacoma was pulled out of the mud by a bone stock discovery. And if you want to see the G or a range rover just go to the Rubicon in Tahoe. just remember Mercedes also builds the Unimog! pretty sure they know what there doing
Matthew CrightonJul 27, 2012 John, i wouldnt want to be drriving a luxury car offroad because its just more ecpensive to fix if something it breaks. Plus a jeep doesnt look bad muddy and scratched. But, a MB needs to be clean and scratch free to look good.
Aaron CartwrightJul 27, 2012 @patrick I was in a land rover, and I must say I was amazed at how capable they are. We went through a muddy river and had the waterline just below the windows. was Freekin nuts! Oh and luxurious at the same time..
John SerelyJul 27, 2012 @mathew your right, but keep in mind the g class also is much more luxurious etc.
Jack HowardJul 27, 2012 Ill take any decent truck and take that to the desert
Paul LissonaJul 27, 2012 Yah for real off road I'd want a wrangler really. I like German cars maybe the best but still jeeps better for this.
Matthew CrightonJul 27, 2012 Are you guys nuts? Why spend $100k+ on something thats not even that good offroad when you could buy a midlevel jeep wrangler and still have money to spare for offroad tires, snorkle kits, etc. and when you are done you have 10 times the machine.
Patrick SchalkJul 27, 2012 IMO luxury offroad is an oxymoron.
Taylor GarryJul 27, 2012 I just see the range rover and g class as luxury suv's. Land cruiser will always be my number 1 for luxury and off road, although not the newest gen
Michael KozlowskiJul 27, 2012 As an LR4 owner and someone who ACTUALLY uses it off-roading, I've come across a few G class suv's that needed me to help them get out of some sort of mess...so IMO, I don't think these G wagons are very good at off-roading. Land Rover, best 4x4xfar!
Logan LeMonnierJul 27, 2012 @patrick the same goes for a new g class
Paul DickeyJul 27, 2012 Carlton is gonna be pumped.
Patrick SchalkJul 27, 2012 Seeing a Range Rover offroad is about as likely as seeing Sasquatch riding a unicycle.
Erik RudolphJul 27, 2012 I have to disagree range rover has been the leader in off roading for the longest time now
John SerelyJul 27, 2012 By far my favorite SUV of all time
Zachary MaurerJul 27, 2012 This by far is a great off road machine, long live the g class

John SerelyJul 27, 2012 @carlton I've seen one for sale in Dubai on some website
Carlton SalmonJul 27, 2012 Have they actually started building the G65 yet as I haven't seen any article, test drive or even a picture of one?
Ty PiperJul 29, 2012 ill take my '84 ranger... it was free lol
Aaron CartwrightJul 28, 2012 You can buy them new and have them imported or just buy a used one.
Oh and I saw a two door G painted flat white with bead locks and huge 32 inch tires driving through San Francisco about a week ago,it was the coolest G I'd seen!!
Jordan SmithJul 27, 2012 Wow I had no idea Defenders were that expensive. Now I think I'd rather have the G-class.
John SerelyJul 27, 2012 @aaron can you even get new ones in the US? I know you can get the old ones, but they are crazy expensive. I know you can get a decent G class from 02-04, which looks almost the exact same besides from the grill, for well under 30k
Aaron CartwrightJul 27, 2012 Oh or you can go pick one up in Africa for cheep lol
Aaron CartwrightJul 27, 2012 I did see some from the 90's going for 25 to 30 grand but they had high milage, and I think those are the years you don't want. The two door ones go for 60-90 grand and 25-40 grand for used ones. Not cheep. Sadly Jeep is lookin pretty good
Aaron CartwrightJul 27, 2012 @jordan I live in the U.S as well and wanted to get one till I saw the price. The four door ones go from $80,000 to $180,000 dollers. For the new ones and some of the used ones from the 80's go for 60,000$ so they are crazy expensive
Jordan SmithJul 27, 2012 My bad Aaron. I live in the U.S so I had no idea how much they cost. How much would a 4 door hardtop Defender cost?
Carlton SalmonJul 27, 2012 The Dark Knight's new Tumbler!
Aaron CartwrightJul 27, 2012 @jordan how much do you think a four door defender costs? Cause they are pretty close in price.
I'd have the defender
Carlton SalmonJul 27, 2012 Most so-called luxury off-roaders don't go off-road at all. To be honest most will only ever have to drive through less than a foot of snow in their entire lifetimes but it's reassuring to know that they can get out of a tight spot when required.
Aaron CartwrightJul 27, 2012 If you want to see these off road just google g class rubicon pics.
John SerelyJul 27, 2012 @david so a 458 is more of a status symbol than anything else? Just because it is expensive, doest mean it is JUST a status symbol
David Pires-IhsaanJul 27, 2012 It base model is 100k+, so it is a status slybol more than anything.
Wyatt GordonJul 27, 2012 I love the G-class, but lets be honest, how many G-class owners have ever taking their G off roading?
Chad SchleyJul 27, 2012 Love the side exhausts on the G55's

David James LudloffJul 28, 2012 Plenty of space indeed... Cept the fact that they don't even come with cup holders!! What kind of dual purpose $100k car is this??! Hopefully you dont get thirsty before dinner I guess.
Andrew HossannJul 27, 2012 Does anyone know if they have a lot of room inside?

Thomas William Tuer-siposJul 30, 2012 Yeah but range rovers have a much less reliability rate... I'm sure for every G class that has a problem, there are 50 range rovers that have a problem
Jeff PitzerJul 28, 2012 What about the Range Rover? It's been production longer the G-wagon and it is every bit as capable an off-roader if not more so. It also has a history of accomplishments and awards and is even more luxurious than the G-wagon in my opinion. The only thing it doesn't have is military experience. But for a capable off-roader that also provides luxury, I feel that the Range Rover is equal to if no...
Carlton SalmonJul 27, 2012 The only vehicle you'd ever need. A Swiss Army Knife on wheels.
