Waterfront pavilion showcases BMW's sponsorship of the Olympic Games in the British capital.
As Londoners brace themselves for the arrival of athletes and fans from across the globe descending upon their capital, BMW - official automotive partner of the Games -has been preparing in its own way by building its own pavilion in the Olympic Park. Unveiled today, the BMW Group Pavilion will showcase an array of the automaker's latest vehicles and concept cars, and is expected to attract thousands of visitors each day of the Olympic Games. It's only the most recent way in which the German automaker has promoted its sponsorship.
BMW has already supplied the organizing committee with 4,000 brand-new vehicles and created a number of special editions. The pavilion itself is located near the Olympic Stadium and Aquatics Center, visually floating on the Waterworks River while water flows down its sides, an aesthetic as well as functional feature that acts to cool the building. The London 2012 Games fleet is showcased on the lower level, with interactive displays about BMW's future vision, backed up by prototypes of its E-Scooter and i Pedelec electrically-assisted bicycle concept, as well as the new-look MINI Rocketman Concept.
