Description: It's an unfortunate fact of life that supercars are often big and bulky machines. After all, you don't get to 500-plus horsepower without packing on a few pounds. Thankfully, there's ca...Add Comments13
Jason BrownJul 22, 2012 You can get price quote from Zoltek, a carbon fiber manufacture. Cheap stuff will run you about $150 per pound while steel for about $1 per pound. My company has used them many times.
Jason BrownJul 22, 2012 Mike you are absolutely correct. Most carbon fiber uses a small about of actual carbon nanotubes. If these super cars would use the 90-95% carbon nanotubes in the carbon fiber than the cost would most likely double the car price.
Mike UlickeyJul 22, 2012 Not positive but depending on quality I believe carbon fiber has the potential to be stronger.
Esam MohammadJul 21, 2012 I get that carbon fiber makes cars lighter .. But doesn't it make them weaker also ?! I mean is it as strong as normal steel or aluminum ?
Paul LissonaJul 21, 2012 Nobody knows how to spell.
Thibault LeroyJul 21, 2012 @Ken obviously you dont realize this is about conversions
Ken KirtlandJul 21, 2012 this list is horrible, the only car i agree with being on here is the huayra. that aventador isnt even full carbon! where is a koenigsegg agera r? i realize this is more about conversions but still.
Bull DogoneJul 21, 2012 Ironic. My girlfriend motto is also "No Fatties" !
Joe Fats HarperJul 21, 2012 @Nick this article is more about carbon fiber conversions to existing cars. If you owned a supercar, you could buy any of these kits right now.. The session elemento is still a one-off, with nothing yet in production
Carlos Eduardo GaviriaJul 21, 2012 What I want to know is exactly how many pounds each car lost after all that money spent on carbon fiber
Erik LopezJul 21, 2012 I think you only read the title and saw the pictures.
Nick YekikianJul 21, 2012 Aye, why isn't the Lambo Sesto elento on here? It's named after carbon itself for christs sake...

Kyle SmithJul 21, 2012 That's down 0.1, the Aventador does it 2.9s stock from most sources. Also the faster a car is, the harder it is to get the 0-60 time down. That weight loss still helped with handling, top speed and fuel economy.
Daniel SullivanJul 21, 2012 Yeah, carbon fiber body panels don't really save much weight. Maybe 40 pounds for an entire body, at most. Article title is kind of misleading.
Wyatt GordonJul 21, 2012 perfectly idiotic way to ruin a great car (even though i don't even like Lamborghini very much to start with). these mods and the "tuning" (meaning f*cking it up, excuse my French) company "Mansuckery" are just idiotic
Kyle KloewerJul 21, 2012 I also don't like exposed carbon fibre it's not creative
Jordan JacksonJul 21, 2012 I think they should have painted it, the exposed carbon fiber thing is too common now, and it's getting old
Chris PenzaJul 21, 2012 I'm not a fan of the wheels but the rest is awesome
Thibault LeroyJul 21, 2012 The rims are not too great but the rest of the car more than makes up for it
Brandon WhybrewJul 21, 2012 yea the wheels could be changed but the body looks amazing!
Mike Jimmy van VarikJul 21, 2012 See I'm the opposite I think it doesn't look great , the rims in particular
Westly BurgosJul 21, 2012 This is the 1st mansory car that doesn't make me want to rip my eyes out. It actually looks incredible!

Daniel SullivanJul 22, 2012 Roof is just a body panel. They replaced it with cf. Not layered. Not that hard to change. They just had to remove the headliner.
Tin NguyenJul 21, 2012 How do they replace the the roof with carbon fiber? Cut out the roof and replace it with carbon fiber?
Jason ColkittJul 21, 2012 I was half expecting to see a horrid cf bonnet with minimal trim. But this... Oh no this was well planned. I'm in love with the quality of this one
Bull DogoneJul 21, 2012 At least this is tastefully done. I was getting ready to flip if I turned the page and saw an all CF 458.
Trey VillarrealJul 21, 2012 This looks just a little bit too amazing.

Wyatt GordonJul 22, 2012 and youre obviously a cock
Wyatt GordonJul 21, 2012 why do they write a story on this car every 5 minutes? the mods are hideous IMO, and carbuzz just seem to not be able to not mention this abomination every chance they get
Jordan JacksonJul 21, 2012 THAT is how gold should be used on a car, nice looking stripes and some subtle touches of it elsewhere, good looking car
Thibault LeroyJul 21, 2012 this has got to be the sexiest R8 out there
ShaneVenhorstJul 21, 2012 This + UGR twin Turbo = one of the best cars ever.
Daniel SullivanJul 22, 2012 Love the R8. Looks like a spaceship compared to every other car in the road. But this looks like a high schoolers honda civic gone bad.
Andrew HossannJul 22, 2012 Lose the stripes keep the sills
Mike UlickeyJul 22, 2012 This car is amazing. Gold looks pretty good, something different, looks like the stripes continue at the bottom of the front fascia which looks a bit off.
Dillon DixonJul 21, 2012 This is the only R8 I love. This looks fantastic.
David PurcellJul 21, 2012 Yea idk about the gold I think if you take it off I might like it a little more but looks so sick!!!
Jordan JacksonJul 21, 2012 I disagree, if you take the gold away, it gets boring, how many times has a black car been done, right
Boyd BoudreauxJul 21, 2012 Ditch the gold you have pure awesomeness

Wyatt ClarkJul 21, 2012 @Jason: IKR! I want to see this R8!
Phil JohnsonJul 21, 2012 Pretty useless if you forget to mention how much they actually weigh
Jason ColkittJul 21, 2012 Love how they seemingly forgot to upload the last pic or two
David Liebe HartJul 21, 2012 An article about lightweight cars, with no mention of weight figures
Chris GainesJul 21, 2012 speak for yourself, this r8 is amazing
