Panamera Wagon Coming to Paris?

Porsche could follow the lead of the Mercedes CLS with a new Panamera wagon.

There are a number of nice things we could say about the Porsche Panamera. It does, after all, out-perform just about any other four-door on the market. But its styling (namely its roofline) and interior space leave something to be desired. Porsche could, however, be preparing to address both those drawbacks at once. The German automaker has long been rumored to be considering a wagon version of the Panamera, and now reports indicate that it could be ready as early as the Paris Motor Show in September.

Word on the street is that Porsche will unveil the Panamera shooting brake in concept form at the Parisian salon, waiting for public reaction to both the show car and the new Mercedes-Benz CLS Shooting Brake before deciding on whether to proceed with production. Porsche, however, isn't the only European automaker toying with the idea of an exotic shooting brake. After Ferrari debuted the new FF, arch-rival McLaren was rumored to be considering following a similar route. Turning the mid-engined MP4-12C into a wagon, however, could prove a little challenging, to say the least, so we'll continue to take that bit with a grain of salt.
