Mazda Takes Over Leipzig with the 240hp Yusho and 158hp Senshu

The MX-5 has two new special edition concepts.

Mazda loves creating special editions of the MX-5 Miata, especially since the current generation is about to be replaced. The two-seater has been around for over 20 years and the two latest editions of the MX-5, dubbed the Yusho and Senshu, have arrived in concept form at the 2012 Leipzig AMI Show. The Mazda MX-5 Miata Yusho is named after the Japanese word for 'victory' and features a supercharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine.

Built with Cosworth pistons, connecting rods and a sports exhaust, the Yusho is rated at 238hp and 202 lb-ft of torque. Compared to the stock's 158hp and 138 lb-ft of torque, those are pretty impressive numbers. It is mated to a six-speed manual gearbox which, at full-go, can reach almost 150mph. The Yusho Concept features a matte white exterior finish and a set of 17-inch alloy wheels. The interior features Recaro sport seats. The Mazda MX Miata Senshu Concept is named after the Japanese word for 'player' and is based on the soft-top's Sports Line trim. It features a stock 2.0-liter 4-cylinder (see above for specs) and is available in either black, red or white.

Sitting on a set of 17-inch dark alloy wheels, the colors are complemented by black surrounds on the front grille and racing stripes. A Bilstein sports suspension system, xenon headlights, cruise control and upgraded Bose audio system further enhance the concept's package. The Mazda MX-5 Miata Yusho and Senshu Concepts are both on display at the 2012 Leipzig AMI show.
