All S30s (240z, 260z, and 280z) are basically the same car with different engines, it's not really necessary to differentiate the 260z and 280z from the 240z.
what about the 260z carbuzz? i know it was terrible (because of US emissions regulations), and by far the slowest z car made, but it did exist...

I owned two mid 80s models a while back. Both beat to hell. The '86 still ran though. Super fun and very fast. Easy to kick the tail out and keep under control.
That's why they had to stop making the 300zx, it had become to expensive for the original Z market to afford. With the 350Z they sacrificed a bit of performance to go back to the roots of being an affordable sports car.
You are talking NA vs twin turbo. The new Z's are inexpensive sports cars, like the originals. The twin turbo version was very pricey in its day
I always thought the G37 came out in 2008 since in 07 there were some G35s that had the updated body style of the G37 but they still had the 3.5 liter engine.
You're right, my bad. I know the G37 came out in 2007 and they're built on the same platform so I just assumed the 370Z came out in the same year.
I always hated the middle inserts people put on them like that. The only one I have liked is the TwinZ one, where it is pretty much just a cut, not anything like this.

Colby you're comparing a Z06 to two FWD cars... VR4 is AWD, known for its crazy launches. Not bashing your car or anything.

I bet he wouldn't take my 455 horsepower 2001 Corvette Z06. I raced a 580hp neon SRT4 and a 550hp Mitsubishi Evo and they couldn't keep up. I doubt he would either. My car's gearing and torque are just perfect for stoplight drags. :)
When this 600hp VR4 pulls up next to you and revs the motor. You can here the huge after market turbos spooling up, then dumping through the waste gates. It's an Awesome sound. It was just funny to see the surprised look on the Vette driver's face.
Mikey, why would that not be fair. The Corvette's brand new and the 3000GT VR4 is dated and weights at least 7 to 8 hundred lbs more. It was a very close race, but the GT just crawled away from the Vette.
@Michael The top of the line 3000GT VR4 was not FWD, but AWD. The 2 lower models were though. Huge mistake, ridiculous amount of under steering for so much power and weight. Car Buzz please do the VR4 next! Any Mitsubishi will do :)

No im pretty sure by 600hp 3000gt he meant a 600hp 3000gt, and thats pretty sweet cuz that build probably cost less than a gs vett, not nockin vetts im a huge advacate of ls cars but you cant argue with results
Mikey I think he meant he watched a 300zx (300hp, unless it wasn't stock, which I bet it was modified) against the GS(436hp). The Z had to be modified, because they are heavy pigs, and the GS weighs less than it.
Loved all the nineties cars, 3000GT VR4. 300ZX, Supra. Theres an awesome 3000GT VR4 that's cranking out over 600hp, where I live. I watched this car beat a new Grand Sport Corvette in a drag race, just awsome.
Regardless of it's memorability, personally I still like the GTO more then the Supra, RX-7, and the Z. Just wish the AWD didn't weigh it down so much. And I dislike the fact I see the FWD SL variation of it every 7 blocks.
The next one needs to be about the vr4 3000gt, vr4 eclips or the vr4 galant, that galant made an evo look like a civic and hardly anyone knows about it
Now on a straighter track, I totally agree with u, the rx7 wouldnt keep up with a supra or 300zx
I've found the 300zx isn't as great a handler but personally I've not driven one, that's from watching and reading vids and articles... The supra is quite good though, and with its extra power, it could beat an rx7 even on a twisty track
@ andrew, yea idk. The supra and 300zx r more technologically advanced, but I think on a track with more twists and turns the rx7 would beat the 300zx and even the supra... But idk... The supra is a great handling but the rx7 is better in that area

@Matt I wouldn't say that the RX7 had better performance. They are lighter and more go kart like, but don't have the power and technology that the Z has. It looks like you own a supra and I own a Z so we're both biased towards our own cars lol
Previous year sales... And after that, the supra out sold it until the 300zx was discontinued in 96'

I'd say the supra is remembered more than the 300zx... The 300zx isn't remembered as much as some of nissans other sports cars I find, like the 240sx... It's popular but not as popular as the supra... It's definitely more popular than the 3000gt
I think the 300ZX TT is more remembered than the Supra for sure!! Maybe the Supra more so by tuners, but the Z definitely beat all of the other 90's Jap sports cars in sales and overall performance

Nothing but respect for the 300ZX, I loved this car in 93 but bought a supra. I only wish the 370Z would drop in twin turbos, $55k would be a steal compared to $92k GT-R.
In my opinion this is the best front bumper for these cars and this is the best car in this article.
That's because this is the front fascia from a Japanese spec 300zx and it was designed to not only look good but to improve airflow to the intercoolers as well.
Normally I feel hand down, the 300z was most attractive in stock body. But actually this facia is improved.
They did go for a whole lot of riced out examples of stuff for the import series didn't they....
Yup the one off of Tokyo Drift. And it seem small because it's sitting to far into the wheel well. It needs some spacers.

The 300zx looks amazing still in 2012. It was never out dated. When it came out in 1990 it was probably the best looking car at the time (excluding super cars)
The Z has a clean classic sports car shape from the nose to the back. I think it looks really aggressive from the front
I guess I'm one of the people who don't really like the appearance. It just looks too awkward at the front (thanks to the headlights), and the back lights, well to say the least, they aren't pretty
I'd say they're pretty lacking in the looks. The front end just kills it for me. At least it's not bland like the supra though. Still think the supra looks better though

Styling a weak point on the 300ZX?!?! It won car of the year every year it was out, and was also ranked one of the most beautiful cars of all time. Looks WAY better than the new Z's IMO. I own one and the styling doesn't look dated one bit

You know what my favorite part about this car is? The Twin Turbo models only got 13 MPG. Back when they had their priorities of building a car in the correct order.
