2013 Mercedes SLS AMG GT Beats the Nurburgring in 7:30

The 2013 SLS AMG GT is a beast around the track.
Earlier this month, Mercedes-Benz announced that the SLS AMG would be replaced by the SLS AMG GT. The German automaker was keen to show off the new model's 20-added horsepower and what it would add to the performance of the 2013 car. According to Autoblog, Mercedes brought the SLS AMG GT to the Nurburgring and put down an impressive lap time of just under 7:30. The new SLS AMG GT will be the new moniker of both the coupe and roadster versions of the powerful Merc model.

As previously reported by CarBuzz, the SLS AMG GT's 6.2-liter V8 has been ratcheted up by 20hp for a total output of 583hp. Torque remains the same at 479 lb-ft while a revised seven-speed AMG Speedshift dual-clutch gearbox transmits power to the rear wheels. Speaking of wheels, the 2013 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT wears 19-inch alloys wrapped in 265/35-series rubber up front while 20-inch wheels wrapped in 295/30-series rubber are fitted on the rear. The SLS AMG GT utilizes them to sprint off the line to 60mph in a tenth of a second faster than previous versions, clocking in at 3.6 seconds.
Top speed has been electronically-limited to 197mph. The 2013 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT's time of 7:30 beats the previous version's record lap time on the Nurburgring by a solid 5 seconds. Sales for the new model are slated to begin this November.
