2013 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor Unveiled

SVT Raptor is the latest 2013 F-150 model to receive a small sprucing up.

Following the freshening of the standard and new Limited F-150 variants, Ford has extended the courtesy to the SVT Raptor, which benefits from a few minor enhancements for the 2013MY. The 2013 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor features forged-aluminum wheels that can be upgraded to industry-exclusive extra-capable beadlocks. "Raptor's exclusive beadlock wheels give the customer the best of both on- and off-road worlds," said Adam Wirth, SVT chassis engineer.

"Tire inflation can be dropped to a very low threshold for maximum traction under extreme conditions, yet holds tight - and stays tight - when returning to the road."
This is the first wheel with conventional and beadlock-mounting abilities. Ford has already filed for a patent on its innovative solution and has explained what makes it so special: "Raptor's wheels are unique because converting from conventional rim to beadlock only requires that customers unbolt the standard outer decorative ring, dismount the tire from its regular position and then remount the tire in the lock-enabled position with the available beadlock ring kit from Ford Racing."

The 2013MY now also offers high-intensity (HID) headlamps that are brighter and whiter than standard lamps for improved visibility, and a all-new earth-toned color called Terrain. Minor interior tweaks include a new 4.2-inch multifunction LCD screen mounted in the instrument cluster and paired with the MyFord Touch infotainment system that's still housed on the center console's eight-inch screen. No changes were made to the powertrain; the 6.2-liter V8 unit, good for 411hp and 434lb-ft of torque, and mated to an electronic six-speed automatic transmission being deemed more than adequate to power the refreshed Raptor.
