JoshuaJun 28, 2012 I do think the KA is underated as the SR is overated and the CA misunderstood ha
JoshuaJun 28, 2012 I like the KA's displacement... I would love to build an AWD bluebird or a s13 with an eaton m65
Ashley LopezJun 26, 2012 It's all about the RB swap. Lol. Jk. You have a valid point there Andrew. The KA doesn't get the acknowledgement it should. It's actually a pretty good engine once you forge the internals and boost it.
Andrew GrimmJun 26, 2012 I hate all the SR fanboys that think it rapes most other swaps and the KA. Really, if you built the KA with the same way you woudl with an SR, KA>SR
Francis El Sabor MatosJun 26, 2012 Its all about the sr20det engine. So much potential from a relatively cheap carcar
Andrew GrimmJun 26, 2012 They better not have any riced ones.... But I'm sure they do...
Mike van VarikJun 26, 2012 See that's weird I only remember the 240sx from need for speed...
Mark MorenoJun 26, 2012 I remember the 180sx from the street racing need for speed games
Matt PiccoloJun 26, 2012 Really, the 97-98 ones!?!?
Ashley LopezJun 26, 2012 Yeah Matt. Here in California they're actually seen pretty often.
Andrew GrimmJun 26, 2012 And my numbers were wrong, they made around 4600 koukis, but is still WAAAYYYY below the number of Zenkis.
Andrew GrimmJun 26, 2012 They are all overpriced because of that stupid "drift tax" ):
Devin BabynJun 26, 2012 I want an S14 so bad. All the ones I find are over priced though. Might settle for a S13
Matt PiccoloJun 26, 2012 @ Ashely, thats sweet, I'd love to drive one or even see one in real life considering I've never seen one of this model year
Logan DelonyJun 26, 2012 There's someone in my neighborhood with this year!
Ashley LopezJun 26, 2012 I know what you mean Matt about there not being many 97-98 ones out there. Luckily I get to see one and drive one pretty often since my brother has one. (:
Matt PiccoloJun 26, 2012 @ ashely, I agree, 97-98 front end is beautiful! Too bad their aren't many of em out their! :/
Andrew GrimmJun 26, 2012 I love love love the kouki front end. I have a Zenki right now caus everyone wants an arm and a leg for that front end, and there were only like 1400 97-98 made so they are kinda rare. I plan to convert my front end after I build and boost my KA.
Cody GillardJun 26, 2012 like it just get rid of carbon fibre hood or paint it
Ashley LopezJun 26, 2012 In my opinion the 97-98 240sx had the best front end. Well as far as the models in America goes. Such a shame they never brought the S15 to the US.
William DownsJun 26, 2012 favorite front end rite there s14 kouki

Sebastian GreyJun 28, 2012 Calm down Andrew. If it's used in a truck then it's a truck engine. You don't come back from that in the engine world. Too embarrassing.
Phillip GreeneJun 26, 2012 I think it sounds awesome when they do that is seems like a japanese muscle car... Well like a feather weight muscle car
Andrew GrimmJun 26, 2012 They first used the KA24E in the '89 240SXs, when in '89, the hardbody had the Z24i engine. They didn't use the KA24E in it until '90, same with the pathfinder. I hate it when they call it a truck motor if you can't tell......
Andrew GrimmJun 26, 2012 They used the KA in the car first, not the truck!! It's not a truck motor, but it's just based more around low end torque.
Carlton SalmonJun 27, 2012 One of the nicest I've seen - simply stunning.
Ceyda Deniz GurlerJun 27, 2012 Lower a car and paint it shiny black. With right rims you can have a classy sport look. Thats the key!!
Byakka HirakawaJun 27, 2012 @ kyle, that was dumb
But these r well place hood pins
U dont c that too often, lol
Dale FredriksJun 27, 2012 I always wanted either this, a supra, or a 300zx tt. Any of them would be amazing to own.
Kai Andrew CarlsonJun 27, 2012 This is a great example of Japanese tuning.
Andrew GrimmJun 26, 2012 Too bad it was an S15 an not an S14A
Kyle HardistyJun 26, 2012 Hey paint it blue with a orange side stripe and and drop a turbocharged skyline engine and you got the Mona Lisa. Yes Tokyo drift!
Matt PiccoloJun 26, 2012 These are awesome looking cars!!! Definitely one of my all time favourite cars! Only the 97-98 though, older models had ugly front ends(between the ones with the flip up lights and these!!)
Andrew GrimmJun 26, 2012 Ohhh my god. I am loving my work break looking at these :)
Jt CollierJun 26, 2012 That's done nicely, much better looking than the supra in my opinion
Phillip HolbrookJun 26, 2012 This is what every ricer (used loosely) wants, but usually funds or interest run out before they can get to this point. This is a nice car.
Andrew McNealJun 26, 2012 Not a big fan of Japanese tuners, but this looks NICE!
JoshuaJun 28, 2012 @Alex.. I have. In a super street article I think. It looks great.. but lol at van lights
Phil JohnsonJun 28, 2012 Sileighty=silfourty. Just a different motor.
chikenbagJun 28, 2012 silforties are better... seeing as how there are no silvias in america. never did like the hatchbacks, which is weird because i love hatchbacks...
Phil JohnsonJun 27, 2012 Never really been a big fan of sileighties
Alex RobertsJun 27, 2012 anybody heard of the odyvia custom build?
Bob JonesJun 26, 2012 I normally love JDM S13 front ends, this specific one is quite fugly though.
Shane ConnerJun 26, 2012 It's not a 180sx. Those were only in Japan and this car is left hand drive.
Andrew GrimmJun 26, 2012 The thing that throws it off it the middle grill. It needs to be flat with the headlights to be flush.
chikenbagJun 27, 2012 of course with two children, it wouldn't work for me now... e39 was a good trade off though
chikenbagJun 27, 2012 damn i miss my s13... one of the most fun cars I've ever driven... I'm sad now:(
Cody MatthewsJun 27, 2012 I've seen that car before...
DeUahn WellsJun 27, 2012 William is right though, go to a track on a drift day or anywhere a lot of actuall drifters are and you can see they wear the mismatch colors and ill-fitting body panels like badges of honor.
Nick StiJun 27, 2012 AWD tuners I'd go after: STi, R33 GTR, Evo
Dale FredriksJun 27, 2012 @Patrick Amen man.
Also, why did they pick this particular one (which looks like its about to fall apart) to represent the 240?
Patrick SchalkJun 26, 2012 Meh. If I'm getting a tuner it'd be a Supra, 300ZX, or S2K.
Zach SullivanJun 26, 2012 s15 all day its a dam shame they stopped at the s14 I herd a s16 was in the works a couple years ago but haven't seen anything yet maybe if the frs does well Nissan will bring it out
William DownsJun 26, 2012 i like the first generation with the s14 kouki front
Quint DoJun 26, 2012 I personally love this front end the most. Pop-up light and the stock front bumper are amazing. I also love the hatch tail light. S13 hatch ftw any day. I would love to have any 240sx though. None of the models are ugly they're all beautiful
Zach SullivanJun 26, 2012 I dig it the way it is Its kinda like a rat rod drifter
Matt PiccoloJun 26, 2012 It's a nice car... But this specific one looks bad, paint, wheels, ride height... This jus isn't a good example
Jason LevyJun 26, 2012 Plasti dipped whole car ftw! Haha
William DownsJun 26, 2012 ok.. i didnt attack anyone just stated an opinion, and u can but its more acceptable in drifting for your car to look mis matched and oddly painted.
Jt CollierJun 26, 2012 The body panels fit almost as good as a yugo!
Alex BouckleyJun 26, 2012 These are great drift cars
William DownsJun 26, 2012 u can hate all u want but more then likly this is a drift car and it can look as odd and stupid as u want as long as its a beat drifter

Andrew GrimmJun 27, 2012 Why do you say that? The only main difference I would see between the S13 and 14 is the OBD2 swap.

Andrew GrimmJun 26, 2012 And what are you talking about? They produced over 213,000 in the US. I would say they sold pretty damn good with those numbers.

Devin BabynJun 27, 2012 Mikey he's agreeing with you. It's not hard to understand
Phil JohnsonJun 27, 2012 You guys make me laugh. A KA is better than an LS Chevy? HA!
And just so you understand why I can laugh: I've owned multiple KA s13's, one SR20 s13, and a Trans Am. My own personal preference is the SR, but the KA is the worst put of them all
William DownsJun 26, 2012 not really cause u gotta dump money into the ka24 to even get it close to an ls and the ls would still be stock and weight less, if your gonna argue that a cast iron block engine is lighter then an all aluminum engine and claim u know what your talking about. were not all stupid kids, and i do love me the sound of a nice ka24, i dont preffer the sound of a v8 in what it dont belong in
Justin TuckerJun 26, 2012 In a way your right about the whole different league, for sure. But like i said, the stock 240 engine can put out just as much torque as the LS but when it comes to getting a LOAD of more power, I can see why you would want the LS
Abraham MendozaJun 26, 2012 I wouldnt put an American engine in these.
Mikey JimenezJun 26, 2012 To me the Supra and Skyline is in a whole different league those car do it for me, I have to agree. Don't get me wrong the 240sx done right looks amazing, but I would swap an LS1 just for the raw torque.
Justin TuckerJun 26, 2012 To each his own. And the 240sx is actually one of the deeper sounding ones. And have you not heard the supra and skyline engine?! I mean c'mon you have to AT LEAST like the sounds of them with a ton of power. And I like the sound of the LS, I have to admit that
Mikey JimenezJun 26, 2012 LS series are the lightest engine line up ever. I don't know why you think they're heavy? LS7 one of the lightest performance in the world. They sounds better for god sake how can you stand that whiny noise those engines make?
Mikey JimenezJun 26, 2012 @Justin LS1's are very compact by the way.
Justin TuckerJun 26, 2012 Yes I know you can turbo an LS. But your not seeing my point. The 240sx's stock engine will eat a v8 everyday of the week if build right. Am i talking up too 800hp on the 240? No! You can do it but, you don't need it because it's light. The S series cars are my specialty, I know what I'm saying as well. You can keep you LS.
Mikey JimenezJun 26, 2012 Justin and Matt you both really need to do your research on the LS1. I can tell you guys don't know much about the LS line up.
Mikey JimenezJun 26, 2012 Justin you can turbo an LS1 as well lol.
Mikey JimenezJun 26, 2012 @Matt it's lighter trust me you guys are mistaking displacement for size again.
Justin TuckerJun 26, 2012 Ok so #1 I can tell your ignorant toward American things
#2, it actually isn't lighter than the VQ35de
#3 I don't care about N/A power, I a turbo guy
#4 I'm talking about easy engine space to work on it, not the engine itself
#5 ...why would you want a 1200hp street car....pointless
Matt PiccoloJun 26, 2012 And I'm pretty sure an ls1 engine isn't lighter than a 350z engine
Matt PiccoloJun 26, 2012 @ mikey... Not everyone wants a 1200hp drag car... The 240sx engine is good engine... Not 1200hp good but they can get Good power out of it
Mikey JimenezJun 26, 2012 a couple thousand miles? I think not. There's a reason why SBC are the most sold engines ever!
Mikey JimenezJun 26, 2012 @Justin do you anything about the LS1? It's lighter than the 350z engine, make more N/A HP, cheaper to purchase, and less parts. Easier to work on lol? That depends on what you're used to working on. Can it make 1,200 HP and still be able to last
Justin TuckerJun 26, 2012 An LS swap is unnecessary in these cars. The ka24 (240sx engine) will always either produce more torque than HP or a little bit less, therefore it is better than the LS because it can do everything a v8 can but way lighter and easier to work on. (I am a specialist in 240s, I know what I'm talking about)
Mikey JimenezJun 26, 2012 CarBuzz failed to mention how much people dropped LS1's in these cars, probably more than the 350z engines.

Phil JohnsonJun 28, 2012 Weight won't make a huge difference. But I think it really comes down to what you prefer. That's really about it. It'll cost you the same to build a KA-T to stock SR specs as it would to just swap an SR.
William DownsJun 27, 2012 not by much and the weight difference will off set it, it just comes down to what your doing with the car and what engine sound u preffer, the raspy sr20 or the throaty ka24
Andrew GrimmJun 27, 2012 Well no shit on that one. Ok how about this. Take an SR and a KA, if you do the exact same stuff to them, ie. building the internals and all, the KA will come out with more power.
Phil JohnsonJun 27, 2012 Argue about SR and KA's all you want. Obviously a modified KA is quicker than a stock SR. But stock for stock the SR will always win.
William DownsJun 26, 2012 the ka24 is alot stronger platform for higher hp but the sr20 is alot lighter and with a little build just as reliable, i personally preffer the sound of the ka24
Francis El Sabor MatosJun 26, 2012 If im not mistaken the sr20det is almost identical to the sentra ser version. I believe it was also sr20de... No t = no turbo
Justin TuckerJun 26, 2012 @andrew, you hit it spot on
Andrew GrimmJun 26, 2012 People just build them without thinking of the internals and that's why they blow easy. If you actually built it, it an eat up SRs.
Justin TuckerJun 26, 2012 The ka24 is a way better engine than the sr20 by a long shot. WAY more torque, and people say they blow up a lot.....they really dont
Timothy HookerJun 26, 2012 my 200sx se-r had a sr20 in it
William DownsJun 26, 2012 the sr20 we got was different then the japanese spec one, tha na sr20 is a different engine then the sr20det
William RamirezJun 26, 2012 Mid 90's Nissan Sentra SE-R's came with SR20's. All that was needed was a turbo and cam's and it would crush most cars...
Sean KallasJun 26, 2012 I beg to differ about the SR20 never being sold in the US. You see, the Nissan Sentra SE-R had one and so did the Infiniti G20. These were very legal and very naturally aspirated. A simple turbo would fix that.
