Cameron, I had an 02 Spec-V and with my cai and cat-back it was 6hp and 8lb-ft to the wheels, header added after was another 4hp and 3lb-ft, it always even cracked me up that people think that you'll get 10-15whp with EACH of those mods, that's where you get all those ricer idiots

You have to take into consideration it has half the amount of cylinders than you. As well as price is irrelevant because the Fire Bird ended in 02 and Pontiac isn't know to hold there value.
I know a guy who has an 08 civic si and he threw a 3k turbo kit on it and only got 285 to the wheels I have full bolt ons for my trans am and I get 300 to the wheels for half the price without a turbo just the basic bolt ons
Majority of us in here cant afford half the cars on here. So that era directly effects a lot of us on our personal cars. So bash the civic all day long but at the end of the day it's still a great car.
I still drive a car like this. Sentra Spec-V mind you I don't have a fart can and I don't think my CAI adds 50hp. I do have a header and a CAI it may add 10hp to the flywheel. I do think good tuners had an impact on sport compact cars.

@Patrick we had a civic come in the other day for an intake manifold gasket. The owner told us to be careful because the motor was "built". Cold air intake, obligitory fart can and a chrome valve cover.
Seems as if this writer has been reading the reader comments. I turned 16 in the nineties and I do laugh at 200+ hp in fwd cars, but in their defense, there was not a good choice of cheap cars to play with.

B-series swaps are also one of the main reasons why the Acura Integra is one of the most stolen cars.
The headlights are copy+pasted from a donor car too. The angle is slightly off and the panel gaps don't line up.

I bought a 2000 si in 2001 and loved it! Amazingly fun car with a few mods it was even more fun: intake, header, exhaust, shifter, pulleys, suspension, spark plug wires, and carbon fiber everywhere. Too much fun!

@prodrag, 10 second is a 10 second, you can't drive a 10 quarter in a fwd and say its more boring than a 10 sec in a rwd, either way they'd be the same times so you can talk about feelings all you want, but times on a strip is all that counts

@Jordan, it doesn't have a small block. It's still a Honda engine and it runs a 7.08 on the 1/4 mile. Take 5 minutes and just google import dps civic and you can find the build sheet.

Plus I see about 50 civics every day, I like to have something a little more uncommon. Even some of the best looking civics won't turn many heads because people are so tired of seeing them.
Show me a 2200 hp civic that runs a quarter mile in 6.9 seconds at 215mph and I will believe that they have as much potential as a V8, but until then, I'll stick with my extra 4 cylinders. And anything over 500hp is alottt of strain on a 4 cylinder.
Bottom line here: The Civic was not intended to be a fast car, but they can be made fast with extensive modifications, as can just about anything. They are popular because they are cheap and cheap to make decently quick, but they have a limit.

I, also from Canada; completely different side though, have observed that the only cars that rust out bad are american. My dads 88 F-150 is hilarious, love that thing. Of course going from a wet climate to a dry one is the biggest factor

Haters be learners, the civic is a great car that will always have a place in my heart. I feel the Civic was poorly represented here with terrible examples in the pictures. Can't beat a clean K20 Si though, unfortunately nothing like that is here.

I'm not a fan of Japanese tuning but I know the difference between a well tunes car and ricer. A ricer is more looks then power and a tuner is the opposite
And the thing that sucks is that hondas are cheap to build and they last but people still cheap out or they just do dumb crap to them to give them a bad reputation.

Uh I've seen Civics with $300 turbo kits put down over 250whp. These things are like legos, they just go together well. Sure a lot get riced out, but they aren't all as bad as some say they are
