The streets of Kiev are in a serious state of disrepair.
Freshly-laid asphalt is apparently no match for burst pipes in Eastern Europe. This story comes from Kiev, the capital and largest city of the Ukraine, so it's rather unfortunate that this is the biggest thing going on in the country at the moment. According to iPress.ua, recently-laid pipes underneath the streets of Kiev erupted, shooting boiling hot water and steam underneath the asphalt, melting the streets and turning "the roads into boiling rivers."
