Peugeot 208 R2 Rally Car Revealed

Peugeot unveils their latest generation rally car.

Rally car racing fans will surely find this one of great interest. Set to debut later this week at the Tour de Corse in France, the rally performance version of the Peugeot 208 has been designed to pack in the best of rally motorsport technology into an affordable package for racers.

The 208 R2 rally car is powered by a 1.6-liter four-cylinder with 185hp and mated to a five-speed manual sequential gearbox. In addition, the package comes with a specially modified suspension and brakes along with Michelin performance tires.

It can be bought for around $75,000 fully assembled or for $49,245 as a kit.
Peugeot has also added that a circuit version and an even more powerful rally model that meets the FIA's R5 regulations will launch later this year. The latter car will likely take the place of the Peugeot 207 Super 2000 rally car at all major national and international events. For those (European) buyers that are interested in a well-packaged rally car for a reasonable price, deliveries will likely begin this November.
