Volkswagen Scirocco GTS Debuts at AMI Leipzig After 30-Year Hiatus

The Volkswagen Scirocco GTS has been revealed in Germany.

The Auto Mobil International Show in Leipzig, Germany, has just played host to the unveiling of Volkswagen's third-generation Scirocco GTS. The new GTS features some slick old-school racing styling on the exterior and some respectable power under the hood. In terms of styling, the Scirocco GTS wears redesigned front and rear bumpers, racing stripes with matching mirror caps, special badging, Scirocco R-derived rear diffuser and roof spoiler and some flared wheel arches.

The interior features a black and red trim matching the exterior's racing lines and plenty of leather. The Scirocco GTS takes its motivation in the form of a 2.0-liter turbocharged plant rated at 210hp and 207 lb-ft of torque. Riding on a set of 18-inch alloy wheels, it's hard to believe it has been 30 years since the GTS was last on the market. The Volkswagen Scirocco GTS is currently on display at the 2012 Leipzig AMI show.
