Aston Martin to Unveil Brand New Car This Summer

CEO confirms plans Aston Martin will introduce an all-new model in the summer.

Aston Martin is currently putting the finishing touches to a 'remarkable' new car, built to mark its 100th birthday in 2013. The Centenary model will be revealed this summer. Speaking with Auto Express, CEO Dr. Ulrich Bez confirmed: "This will be an entirely new model. We have to do something remarkable to mark our centenary. It won't be a DB9 with a Centenary Edition badge and it won't be a limited edition like the One-77 supercar. This will be a mainstream Aston."

It is widely believed the car the CEO is talking about is the DB9 successor, which many have concluded will be dubbed the DB10. Given the car will mark the company's centenary perhaps calling it the DBC (C being the Roman numeral for 100) would be more apt. Design cues are expected to come from the One-77 supercar and could well be powered by a 6.0-liter V12 that delivers 550hp and a four-second 0-62mph sprint time. In response to criticism that recent Astons have sported similar designs, Dr. Bez said: "The best cars stand the test of time. You need evolution in design, not constant change. Look at the Porsche 911."

He also identified the One-77, Zagato, Rapide sports saloon and Cygnet city car as examples of radically designed Aston Martins.
