Why these cars attract grandpa faster than you can say furious.

Who would ever have thought issues like adjusting a driver seat and easy to reach buttons would be key factors in buying your automobile of choice? Older drivers face many unique challenges and when taking these issues into consideration, a few cars attract seniors about as fast as white on rice. With an expected 40 million U.S. drivers over 65 by 2020, you can likely expect to see one of these cars on a road near you.

With plenty of room to take the grandkids around town, the Cadillac DTS is a popular pick of senior citizens everywhere. Quite stylish with an average $45,000 sticker price, this American luxury staple continues its appeal to those old enough to remember when the vintage Eldorado's of the 50's and 60's ruled the American car scene.

The Lincoln Town Car continued its domination with approximately 89.6 percent of buyers being 65 or older before it was finally discontinued in 2011. This luxury ride is known for its comfort behind the wheel, fuel efficiency (for a vehicle that weighs 4,000 lbs with a V8) and with room for up to six passengers and their luggage in tow. Similarly priced to the Cadillac DTS, the Lincoln's sticker price remains in the sweet spot of affordability for the older crowd as well.

There was a time in the USA when Buick was a status symbol for the fortunate few to have earned the right to be called 'Doctor' (and those who married one). Because of Tiger Woods and GM's best efforts, the Buick Lucerne remained a magnet for the 55 and up crowd until production ended in 2011 as well. While quite bland and unattractive on the eye to young consumers, it more than makes up for it with grandpa and grandma due to its respectable reliability, smooth highway driving feel, and a decent price. It was even powered by GM's 4.6-liter Northstar V8.

With many seniors starting to be turned off by the more stylish (and youthful) Buicks which were clearly not built with this demographic in mind, the outgoing 2012 Chevrolet Impala has caught fire amongst octogenarians everywhere. This vehicle gives new meaning to the word 'old school'. While not to be confused with the legendary 1958 Chevrolet Impala Coupe, the 2012 version sports a six-speed automatic and single, 3.6 L LFX that delivers 302 hp. Fortunately for younger buyers, an all-new and much more stylish Impala was revealed at the New York Auto Show in March.
