2013 SRT Viper Leaves Ferrari’s Chief ‘Speechless’

Chrysler chief Sergio Marchionne says that the new 2013 SRT Viper took Luca Cordero di Montezemolo’s breath away.

Ferrari Chairman Luca Cordero di Montezemolo was afforded an up close and personal meeting with the brand-new 2013 SRT Viper and, according to Chrysler head Sergio Marchionne, the Italian supercar boss was left "speechless." Chrysler and Ferrari are both owned by Fiat, and SRT is the former's latest offshoot and its premier model is the all-new 2013 Viper. The Viper made its debut at the 2012 New York International Auto Show last month to much acclaim.

Marchionne recently sat down with WJR-AM radio and, according to a transcript of the interview posted the automaker's website, "The car is a superb machine. I had the chairman of Ferrari down here for the board meeting last week and he had a chance to look at the car, and he was speechless. I mean, for Ferrari to admit that the car is a unique vehicle is a hell of a compliment to the work that's gone on here. So I'm delighted. I mean, so far, knock on wood, we're doing well." As a quick refresher, the 2013 SRT Viper packs an 8.4-liter V10, delivering 640hp at 6150 rpm and 600lb-ft of torque at 4950. It has an estimated top speed of 206mph.
