Jaguar Heritage Racing Returns after 50 Years with Monaco Historique Win

A 1952 C-type scored Jaguar Heritage Racing’s debut win around the streets of Monte Carlo.

For the first time since 1956, Jaguar Heritage Racing has returned to the competitive arena at the Grand Prix de Monaco Historique, where it scored its debut win with a 1952 C-type in the Serie C for pre-1953 Sports Prototypes. The FIA-sanctioned event, now in its 8th year, is widely regarded as the jewel in the historic racing crown and takes place a fortnight before the F1 Grand Prix on the exact same circuit around the principality's streets.

This particular C-type was originally owned by Juan Manuel Fangio who purchased the car directly from the Jaguar factory. Commenting from the podium after securing the win, driver Alex Buncombe said: "It's a real honor to score Jaguar Heritage Racing's maiden victory and what a place to do it, here at the most famous race track of them all, on the streets of Monte Carlo. "The team and mechanics did a fantastic job preparing the car, it's super quick and it ran like a dream throughout the weekend. In my view it's the best C-type in the world."

The next event on the calendar is the legendary Mille Miglia in Italy beginning this Thursday, while both C- and D-type Jaguars will also compete at venues including Nurburgring in August and Goodwood in September, as well as attending events on the historic motoring such as the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance and each round of the UK's E-type challenge. This investment and celebration of Jaguar's heritage coincides with the automaker's most extensive new product development cycle in its history.
