Porsche Firms Up Plans on New Junior Panamera Sedan

Porsche will continue to break taboos as it makes room for a sub-Panamera sedan in its lineup.

There is no doubting the financial success of the Panamera sedan, and just as the Cayenne's success has lead Porsche to create a second crossover model in the form of the Macan, bringing out a second sedan seems like the next logical step to take. In a recent report posted in the German publication AutoBild it is claimed Porsche will introduce a junior version of the four-door Panamera sedan by 2017 at the latest.

Codenamed Pajun (a combination of Panamera and Junior), the sedan would represent the sixth model in Porsche's lineup following the Boxster, Cayman, 911, Cayenne SUV, Panamera sedan and the upcoming Macan crossover. AutoBild also reported the Pajun would come in notchback and Shooting Brake body styles with a selection of six-cylinder gasoline & diesel engines, and would be priced in the €65,000 to €100,000 range. The second sedan would slot into the lineup below the Panamera sedan, and represent a competitor to the Mercedes-Benz E-Class.

Porsche spokesperson was non-committal on the Pajun story when speaking with Reuters, confirming only that there "were many ideas for a sixth model but decisions had not been taken." So if not the Pajun, then perhaps the sub-Boxster Project 551 roadster instead.
