Description: Yes, we all know the story by now. Last week when Shelby American revealed their new 1,100hp pony car masterpiece, one of the official pictures looked sort of off. The reason was because it was Photos...Add Comments17
Fabian PioroApr 07, 2012 Rob can!!! He can drive a car with 2000hp on wooden wheels! Lmfao!
Jason BrowerApr 06, 2012 It all boils down to knowing your limits, I've been fortunate enough to drive an Aston Martin DB9, but I didn't just jump in and floor it. People need to respect the fact that cars can be very dangerous if not properly used.
Westly BurgosApr 06, 2012 Yeah, anything that powerful is going to take a ton of skill and balls the size of wrecking balls. And Shelby didn't do the photo editing, it was another, non affiliated source. Shelby should've taken some kinda action against it
Tim PreisingerApr 06, 2012 Just need to be safe when driving those cars and slowly get used to it. Can't jump from driving a focus to driving a 1000 horse Chevelle lol
Tim PreisingerApr 06, 2012 It's a matter of getting used to a high HP car. I have a 600 horse Nova and it took a month till i was comfortable with it. I drove one of my friends 900 horse Vette and it's really just about not being an idiot thinking your better then you are.
Devin BabynApr 06, 2012 Showed my dad the photoshopped pic yesterday and he wouldn't believe me that it was fake. Took a couple minutes to convince him
Taylor LittleApr 06, 2012 The street legal one is 950hp the drag one is 1100hp. I drive a 250hp grand marquis (slightly better than stock) and the thought of the jump to 1100hp scares me. I'd crash.
Paul LissonaApr 06, 2012 I admit most powerful vehicle I've driven maybe 400 hp or so.
Zachary MaurerApr 06, 2012 I'm an Asian, I don't know how to Handel a 95 hp dewoo
Bryan GarzaApr 06, 2012 I'd probably head over the curb real quick. But I'll have a dang good time doing it!!
Greg LewisApr 06, 2012 950hp on pump gas. Either way, I couldn't handle that. From 350hp to 1000? To big of a jump. Or off be in the tree!
Fabian PioroApr 07, 2012 No it was an iconic name. Now it's a lazy business. And it is a mustang pos with technology from Egypt. So instead of puting a bigger blower on it maybe they should work on handling improvements... Don't get yer panties in a bunch there!
Ben ArendsApr 07, 2012 Soooo.... $200g+ for this. Hmmm, for 229 you can get yourself a 458 Italia. I'm sure this mustang outperforms it, but, it's still just a stang. I'm sure it's worth 200g to someone, just not me. Impressive and good looks, nonetheless.
Kevin IrishApr 06, 2012 I just can't get past the headlights. Anyone else think it looks crosseyed? The projectors should be switched to the outside of the headlight housing, not the inside. And when I say "outside," I mean towards the fender, not on the "inside" next to the grille.
Rami WilsonApr 06, 2012 Make mine Wimbledon white with blue American racing stripes. I sold them because I moved on to other better cars. I'll have another one day. A '87 Shelby Charger GLHS.
Devin BabynApr 06, 2012 Phillip since no one answered you I will. (I didn't need the hint by the way) It's the best American car made the Viper
Dillon DixonApr 06, 2012 It does need the classic Shelby stripes. I would want mine red with white stripes.
Erik RudolphApr 06, 2012 @ dan I know right people would rather complain than enjoy this car that's what I hate about car buzz
Fabian PioroApr 06, 2012 Sure, and maybe some tribals down the side too.
Chris PenzaApr 06, 2012 It looks great, but it needs racing stripes
Fabian PioroApr 06, 2012 Oh no. Not another "Shelby gt something". Big deal dude you tuned it to 1000hp. For years just upping the power. No innovation or creativity. Just in it for the money now. Btw the shiny sticker on the side is horrible..
Daniel MarinoApr 06, 2012 I think the color makes the car because in person the blue looks really good. They also had a a gts there, 2 gt350s (one convertible) and a gt500 super snake 50th anniversary in black with gold stripes and black wheels. So HOT
Phillip HolbrookApr 06, 2012 Shelby did design those, he left Ford for a long time and was working with Dodge. I'll give you a hint on his biggest success story there, it's another snake named roadster like the one he built in cahoots with Ford.
David Pires-IhsaanApr 06, 2012 btw.. none of those are even made by fomoco, let alone Shelby..
David Pires-IhsaanApr 06, 2012 you said you HAD a charger daytona.. why would you git rid of it..
Rami WilsonApr 06, 2012 The bar just keeps getting raised just like the Muscle Car wars of yore! Please don't let it end this time. I've had 5 Shelby's 2 '84 Shelby Chargers and '85, '88, and a '89 Shelby Daytona.
Thibault LeroyApr 06, 2012 wow i have fallen in love with this car
Leonhard NitzgenApr 06, 2012 I looked at the other pics and it does look good
Leonhard NitzgenApr 06, 2012 I like it too but I'm not a fan of that color....
Carlton SalmonApr 06, 2012 Best looking front of a Mustang I've ever seen, nice and aggressive with a 'get out of my way!' look to it. Lovely colour too.
Description: Currently celebrating their 50th anniversary, Shelby American obviously wanted to do something special and their latest offering is certainly just that. The standard road-going version (which is emiss...Add Comments32
Add RubleApr 08, 2012 Can someone explain to me why you have to buy a gt500 with the 1000?
Fabian PioroApr 07, 2012 Why get a gt500. Might as well go with an 80's 5.0 with a crate motor! Be about the same car. Lol!!!
Cody JacquesApr 06, 2012 Anyways my point is I'd rather have a car that I could take around a track and not just an over priced STOCK drag racer.
Thats... stupid! Drag racing is 90% the build and tuning. Only alittle bit actual racing.
Cody JacquesApr 06, 2012 for around this price you can build a ford gt 1000 through Hennesey Tuning. Atleast that would be able to turn... sorta...
Any rwd car with 1000hp is a death trap. This more than most because its built for the road.
Jason BrowerApr 06, 2012 Style of driving and what you plan to do with it. Self-built cars are always more respectable that kits and bought performance.
Jason BrowerApr 06, 2012 @Brian, not sure what you're looking at, but tt kits can be had for much, much less. However, the biggest issue is that you're looking at kit prices, instead of doing it yourself for a fraction of the cost, and getting results that work for your own
Pablo HerasmeApr 06, 2012 This is a Joke, Rather buy a GT500
Alex ArvanitisApr 06, 2012 You can buy a 2010 gt500, then pay a reputable shop to build the block, tt it, install a full Griggs suspension, throw on 6piston brembo's, nt01's, fully build the trans, fuel, and rear and install a cervini's gt500kr body kit for <$125k
-1200whp
1g
Rich VuchetichApr 06, 2012 this thing can only go straight. I would still by the supped up GTR instead. Atleast you can take it on a track and go Lrft, right, stop, and go. I would never pay that kind of money to drive in a straight line.
Johnny HooverApr 06, 2012 They should throw this kit on the ford GT
Alanda BurroughsApr 06, 2012 Ha ha! Shelby's been smoking too much crack if they think adding $150K to the price of a GT500 is a sensible value. Heck...like someone stated earlier...you can add $10-15K to the engine and have a GT500 with 950 or so HP.
I'll take the other $135K and buy a Ford GT and customize my garage with a hydraulic lift to work on them when I want to.
Thibault LeroyApr 06, 2012 yea i know its a bit overexagerated but yea i meant under 3 sec but i hope it does it in at least under 4sec and has a top speed of at least 200
Andrew GrimmApr 06, 2012 Good luck with getting any car with a 0-60 under 2 seconds and having a 220mph car for under 200k new.
Thibault LeroyApr 06, 2012 Well i think the 200k price tag will only be worth it if the 0-62 time is under 2sec and a top speed of over 220-230 but since i highly doubt this will be the case consideing aerodinamism and weight of the car i dont think the 200k price tag is justifiable.
Cody JacquesApr 06, 2012
This car will be the death of many fools who dont understand arodynamics.
1000hp in this and youre airborn in a tree... my bad over the tree
Nick RiosApr 06, 2012 Hah rare and looks like every other one. 150 grand suck my balls
Dillon DixonApr 06, 2012 Hmmm..... Ferrari, Lambo, or a Shelby? Ha, I'll take the Shelby! This will be more rare than a lot of other supercars. Plus, I've always loved Shelby.
Zachary MaurerApr 06, 2012 You know Matt u just rhymed your comment, anyway a 1,000 hp mustang would only be good for dragstrips, Irl it would suck @ss
Greg LewisApr 06, 2012 Hp that can't be put to the pavement or handles is useless. Need some reviews and videos to determine if it's worth the 200k tag that I'll never afford. But for that price it is a barging 1000hp factory tuned car... Chevy dodge, hello?
Tim ButlerApr 06, 2012 To any one who says this car is not worth it is wrong a bugatti is 1.5m and my dad bought the Saleen mustang last year for 160k with all the toys and it only has 670 hp so for an extra 40k and 530 hp it's worth it
Fabian PioroApr 06, 2012 Have to be severely high to pay this much for a gt500. When u could put 10k in your own gt500 and have 950hp... Without transformers sticker!
Chris PenzaApr 06, 2012 So it comes with an extra gt500? that's weird
Trent BourgeoisApr 06, 2012 Mustang that looks the same as 40 % of cars on the road, or 1 zr1 for the road and 1 z06 for the track... This one is such a toughy 😏
Matt PiccoloApr 06, 2012 Now way is this worth 200k
Mario CallirgosApr 06, 2012 I have never seen any car with 1000 hp priced under 250k Maybe it's worth it
rockstarTcApr 06, 2012 That is crazy expensive!! That is way to much for a mustang no matter what company helped make it. Take off a $100k then it might be worth it.
Natalino MonastraApr 06, 2012 ferrari or Shelby for $200,000????? not a tough choice
Barry Boo WilsonApr 06, 2012 ...not even...
Just like everything else with his name on it, overpriced.
Brady FeredayApr 06, 2012 Hell cant you almost get an elanor for that price or I would get an old Mach1 thats something they should bring back for get the GT BRING BACK THE MACH1 :D
Brady FeredayApr 06, 2012 Lol no to that mustang a lot of better build and quality cars for that price and there probably faster around a track too xD
Barry Boo WilsonApr 06, 2012 Note even close to being worth 200g. I own a mustang and it doesn't hurt my feelings at all to comprehend that.
Thibault LeroyApr 06, 2012 yea 200 grand for a shelby is alot but this is an amazing car, did they release the performance stats yet?
Description: Despite the engine modifications, such as taking the 5.4-liter V8 down to the block to add new rods, cranks, and pistons, Shelby went to great lengths to cut weight. In fact, even the windscreen wiper...Add Comments7
Alex ArvanitisApr 06, 2012 100k total meaning with the $50k gt500 and then $50k to Shelby
You can buy all the parts on this car an have a shop install them for less than $29k with labor and tax.
Alex ArvanitisApr 06, 2012 Its 5.4 based. They didn't have access to the 5.8 when they began development a year ago.
It's being released now to commemorate 50 years.
It's way way way over priced in my opinion.
I'd see no point in paying more than $50k for this, $100k total.
Mikey JimenezApr 06, 2012 This is not the 2013 GT500
Mike LasenbyApr 06, 2012 5.4? I think they meant 5.8 right?
Taggart WilberApr 07, 2012 So do you call a Corvette a muscle car too?
Fabian PioroApr 07, 2012 Viper a muscle car? Ohhh cause it's American! Guess cavaliers are muscle cars to!!! No no wait. Crown Vic! MUSCLE baby!!
Duncan Fritz MeiselApr 06, 2012 I'm a huge Chevy fan but this stang is SICK!!
Alanda BurroughsApr 06, 2012 Why would anyone call the Mustang a tank? Did any of you even look-up the curb weight? No...I didn't think so...because this car is no heavier than a Camaro, GT-R, or a BMW M3 for that matter.
Vic OrutsahakijApr 06, 2012 Viper is a Muscle car, but for some ppl in Europe or Asia think Viper is Super Car is becoz it's stunned ppl at the Nurburgring. But for me Muscle car is more like it.
Mikey JimenezApr 06, 2012 @christian who called them exotic? He said SUPER CAR!!
Phillip HolbrookApr 06, 2012 Viper is a super car, albeit just not an exotic one. For that matter Mustangs, Camaros, and Challengers aren't even muscle cars. They are called pony cars. Though the argument could be made that these have morphed into muscle cars.
Cody AndreeApr 06, 2012 Viper isn't a muscle car in my books
Brandon CarrApr 06, 2012 Finally, two people got the idea! This is a muscle car, it's insanely heavy! Btw id rather have the new srt viper to get the ultimate muscle car experience.
Logan LeMonnierApr 06, 2012 Oh look at that a mustang that looks like every other one. Why didn't they just bring back the gt? What a waste...
Brandon LidyApr 06, 2012 That's why it needed 1100 horses.
Quinn EdgingtonApr 07, 2012 Not an fn pony car pure muscle!!!
Matthew CrightonApr 07, 2012 I think if they would have put body colored inserts in the hood it would have looked much nicer. Or carbon fiber.
Christo SavaidesApr 06, 2012 @Alanda - You have much better contributions to the comments than most of the people on CarBuzz.
Alanda BurroughsApr 06, 2012 Yes. The vent is functional. It extracts air from the intercooler, which is located in the upper part of the grille, not down below like most cars.
Devin BabynApr 06, 2012 Greg totally agree I've hated it immensely ever since they first put it on. Looks like crap and it looks cheap so what's the point?
Cody AndreeApr 06, 2012 Decals are so ugly. Deep dish rims are sick
Greg LewisApr 06, 2012 The cheap looking hood insert, what's with that?
Alex ArvanitisApr 06, 2012 It won't melt; modded 03 cobra's run 8's with the factory body panels and these panels are much stronger.
Still this thing is way overpriced. Ridiculously so.
Matthew ReindorpApr 06, 2012 Quite funny if they have recall all the cars because first time you push the car over 100 it melts...
Nick SchneeApr 06, 2012 The hood scope looks rubbish, they should've made it blue...
Andrew GrimmApr 06, 2012 Right? I was thinking the same thing about that.
Tony FlahertyApr 06, 2012 Yea the splitter is beautiful shame the hood scoop is shitty plastic though.
Alex ArvanitisApr 06, 2012 What! Ya lets throw cross drilled rotors so it looks racey.
Hello brake warp and cracking.
Anyone with hi po cars knows slotted>drilled. The weight savings do not offset the durability and cracking/fracturing issues.
Epic fail.
Brandon CarrApr 06, 2012 Nothing wrong with the rims, but I was expecting a little more pizzazz.
Alex ArvanitisApr 08, 2012 They aren't 215/40/20's so that's a lie about 8" tires but they are 285/35/20's which are only about 11" wide.
Nitto Nt05r's in 315/30/20's would hook just fine. Those handle great as well.
Want drag race traction; you could run et streets.
Robert YoungApr 07, 2012 All on 8 in tires too. Only takes 100hp to break the tires loose. Lol. Now what w/the rest of the 900?
Fabian PioroApr 07, 2012 Okkkk let's not get into mustangs and handling. JOKE YO
Adam LefkowitzApr 07, 2012 answer to how you do this....get a supercharger with almost as much displacement as the engine...dumb if you ask me. i bet you it doesnt put all the power down unless its running slicks. aka cant drive this car as a daily and use it like its meant to be used. bummer
Alex ArvanitisApr 06, 2012 This motor at the same boost level with twin 62/54's would make 1200whp+.
1100 flywheel hp is barely 960whp. Not to mention belt slip an heat soak issues.
Modulars deserve turbo builds, sc is cool and what not but nothing trumps twins for the $$$
Extremis ColsonApr 06, 2012 its like the wraith, when the hood open and the engine was held together with electricity. LOL
Matthew JohnsonApr 06, 2012 Guys... Making 1000 hp in today's world is not that impressive. Anyone with a little but of money and know how could do it. If you have a lot of money it would make it a whole lot easier. Making power means nothing unless it performs.
rahpApr 06, 2012 my gt500 has 780 HP and it handles the turns just fine ... of course I'm sure you car does better ....
Brady FeredayApr 06, 2012 @alex ya if the car can even handle it when there's a turn lol
Alex Christopher Edward KnightApr 06, 2012 Not a very pretty engine bay in my opinion. But that doesn't matter haha. The four digit horsepower will do all the talking!
Skyler WhiteApr 06, 2012 Yeah but you also gotta remember that these things sacrifice some HP for some TQ output. It's some serious power in my book.
Justin TuckerApr 06, 2012 Not saying 4 cylinder is bad at all, just crazy how its putting down over 800hp
Justin TuckerApr 06, 2012 An evo is also a 4 cylinder. And you would be shocked on how well nissans and Toyota engine can handle that power. Look at the 2jz for instance
Brandon CarrApr 06, 2012 It's not easy but you could squeeze 1000 hp out of a 6. I mean, my friends Mitsubishi Evo 9 is pushing 850 hp.
Bryan GarzaApr 06, 2012 Nissan does wonders with a V6, it would be interesting to see what they can do in the mustang.
Greg LewisApr 06, 2012 1000hp from a 6? Easy! Just look at those civics, add stickers, spoiler, fart can exhaust and their drivers think they are pushing 800hp... (:
Abraham MendozaApr 06, 2012 How do you calculate supercharger displacement?
Riley McKelvieApr 06, 2012 Hahahaha you thought he was talking about the engine? A 1,000 hp 3.6 v6 mustang? Hahaha
Jason W. EversApr 06, 2012 He is talking about the displacement of the supercharger alone.
Sam OglesbyApr 06, 2012 Nope this is the 5.4l v8 in the shelby 1000
Andrew GrimmApr 06, 2012 Hello lovely. If this is the street version, this is a 3.6L supercharger with freakin 19PSI!! The track version has a 4.0 Supercharger. That is rediculous.
Trent BourgeoisApr 06, 2012 And I see 90% women driving the mustang... I don't understand your "She-Vette" comment.
Trent BourgeoisApr 06, 2012 Lol ... And here come the idiot comments again. Let's see how fast she is around the ring... And yea, 1000 hp to those tires? I would think it should be like the vipers 355's
Sonny BanksApr 06, 2012 KISS MY TAIL SHE-VETTE!!! SCRAP-MARRO!!!
Matthew CrightonApr 07, 2012 It will go fine. If u can affored the car and insurance for it u can certanly affored some aftermarket track tires.
Mikey JimenezApr 06, 2012 Good luck getting the power down with pizza cutters.
Josh WillesApr 06, 2012 I'm just stating that the easiest thing was overlooked. I know this car is made for a straight line with its drag spec axel and adjustable suspension and raw power but they overlooked the most obvious thing. Adding more rubber so more power can get to the ground. Also they were off to a bad start when they had to shop a pic to make it raise the front e d
Brady FeredayApr 06, 2012 Holy shit my shoe has mor rubber touching the ground than this mustang all you will do is spin all day
Charlie LiberskiApr 06, 2012 I like how some people think that they could engineer a better car themselves than shelby.
Skyler WhiteApr 06, 2012 This IS the GT's engine.. -.- so. No. It wouldn't.
Brandon CarrApr 06, 2012 I like this thing but they should have done so something with the Ford gt. I think mustangs are a dime a dozen, they're everywhere!! The gt's engine would have been putting out more hp stock and would be easier to crank out higher hp #'s.
Josh WillesApr 06, 2012 That's my problem with these over powered Shelby/mustangs. Always increasing power but never properly getting that power to the ground. For example the Honda civic tires.
Fabian PioroApr 06, 2012 It's got a warning sticker "don't over accelerate or die"
Trent BourgeoisApr 06, 2012 Are those 295's for 1000 hp? Lol.
Rob can!!! He can drive a car with 2000hp on wooden wheels! Lmfao!
Lol civic? 423hp 02 wrx's.
It all boils down to knowing your limits, I've been fortunate enough to drive an Aston Martin DB9, but I didn't just jump in and floor it. People need to respect the fact that cars can be very dangerous if not properly used.

950hp on pump gas. Either way, I couldn't handle that. From 350hp to 1000? To big of a jump. Or off be in the tree!
I thought it was 1000 hp...
I'm willing to bet the majority of drivers wouldn't know how to handle 1100hp
Yeah, I'm sure you would coz u drive a civic. You wouldn't know how to handle 1100 HP for sure.
Until you lose control and hit a tree!
Thats still really bad that they did that, from such a good company thats really embarassing.
