A competition version of the compact sedan will take part in the Global RallyCross Championship with Travis Pastrana behind the wheel.
The all-new 2013 Dodge Dart rally car has been unveiled at the New York Auto Show, just weeks before action sports star Travis Pastrana contests the 600hp AWD racer at the 2012 Global RallyCross Championship (GRC) Series. Custom built for the GRC racing, the Dart rally car has little in common with the production model, using a custom-built turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder 16-valve engine mated to a Sedav 4-wheel drive gearbox.
With 600hp and 550lb-ft of torque at its disposal, the Dart rally car can sprint from 0-60mph in 1.9 seconds. Bugatti eat your heart out. For those that don't know, Travis Pastrana has won the Rally America championship four times, has 17 X Games gold medals, and has won multiple supercross and motorcross championships. People follow him religiously online - he had 6 million Google searches in 2010 and has over 3.5 million Facebook followers, making him one of the most searched athletes on the planet.
He also owns the Nitro Circus action sports franchise including a TV show, love tours and 3D feature film project. Check out the video to watch the insane car drift on the half-dirt, half-pavement circuit, and be sure to put the 26 May in your diary for the GRC Series season opener taking place in Charlotte, North Carolina.
