The Jeep Wrangler Dragon Concept Hatches in Beijing

The Year of the Dragon theme is heating up at this year’s Beijing Motor Show.

The Jeep Wrangler Dragon Concept has reared its head at the 2012 Beijing Motor Show to much applause. The design concept pays homage to the Chinese Zodiac Year of the Dragon, symbolizing strength and power. Based on the Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon, the black-on-black Jeep Dragon Concept features a three-piece hard-top and bronzed-gold touches on the front grille, headlight surrounds and badging. A Mopar fuel-filler door and black-finished LED exterior lighting package further sets the Jeep apart on the road.

The lighting package includes projector headlights, turnlights and taillights. It sits on a set of unique 18-inch five spoke matte black alloy wheels with bronze-gold high-gloss outer edge. 35-inch off-road tires are fitting for this versatile concept. "The Jeep brand is committed to China and therefore we must design and tailor our vehicles to the specific tastes and preferences of Chinese consumers. The Wrangler Dragon design concept is the first Jeep vehicle designed specifically with Chinese elements in mind and showcases the opportunity for special editions that might be available for China in the near future," said Jeep Brand COO for Asia CEO Mike Manley.

The interior is a continuation of the black and bronze-gold theme, with the former the color of the seats while the latter covers up the piping. Magic Wand metallic leather is found on the sides while a laser-etched dragon pattern can be found on the headrests. The Jeep Wrangler Dragon Concept is currently on debut at the 2012 Beijing Motor Show.
