Daihatsu 10th Anniversary Special Edition Marks End of Copen Roadster

One of the smallest roadsters on the market is being resigned to the history books.
Ten years after its introduction, Daihatsu has decided to end production of the Copen roadster and with it one of the smallest convertibles on the market will be resigned to the history books. More than 56,000 models of the diminutive roadster have been sold, and to mark its end, which will come in August, Daihatsu has revealed the Copen 10th Anniversary Edition that will be available exclusively in Japan as a limited edition model.

The 10th Anniversary Copen is finished in white with dedicated exterior and interior badges, 15-inch BBS alloys, a chrome front grille, black leather seats with contrasting red stitching and chrome trim details on the inner door handles and handbrake. In order to meet Japan's kei car regulations, the JDM model will be offered with a 63hp 660cc turbocharged engine as opposed to the normal 86hp 1.3-liter naturally-aspirated four-cylinder unit.
Offered with a choice of 5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic transmissions, the Copen 10th Anniversary Edition is priced at 1.82 million yen for the manual and 1.8 million yen for the auto 'box.
