2013 Fornasari Gigi Concept: Ugly or Cutting-Edge Retro?

It’s going to take someone with a seriously acquired taste to part with the hundreds-of-thousands of dollars that’s required to own this retro sports car.
Better known for its oddly-shaped crossovers and AWD concepts, with their latest offering coachbuilder Fornasari is apparently attempting to attract a new wave of customers who prefer driving stylish coupes. Staying true to its roots, the Fornasari Gigi Concept boasts slightly awkward proportions with oversize wheels and short fenders, as well as a Zagato-style double-bubble roof, and tiny side windows.

The Italian coachbuilder claims the car will be fitted with a 6.2-liter V8 engine capable of producing over 500hp and propelling the retro-styled concept from 0-60mph in around 3.5 seconds en route to a 200mph top speed. Other details on the car are scarce, but we do know that prices for the coupe, and upcoming convertible, will start at just under $290,000. For some, that's small change to have an ultra-exclusive bit of kit parked outside their home. For others, its a ludicrous amount of money to spend on a wacky-looking sports car.
