SsangYong Reveals XIV-2 Concept, New Korando SUV and Actyon Sports

The Korean automaker presents a trio of 4x4s at the Geneva Motor Show.
The South Korean 4x4 specialist has arrived in Geneva with a pair of production-ready models and a new concept. Making its world debut, the XIV-2 follows the XIV-1 Concept shown at Frankfurt 2011, and is presented as a premium convertible CUV. The car comes equipped with various fuel efficient and low CO2 technologies such as 1.6-liter gasoline and diesel engines, efficient six-speed manual and automatic transmissions, and Idle Stop and Go.

The XIV-2 will be launched as a 5- and 3-door, a coupe, and an extended body. The fabric roof has a one-touch automatic operating system, while the interior features red color highlights on the dials, four independent bucket seats, aluminum and carbon-fiber trim and an up-to-the-minute infotainment system that pairs with driver's smartphone. A revised version of the Korando SUV is also presented with new powertrains and enhanced styling. Arguably the company's best looking car, the new model gets a chrome-coated mesh radiator grille and hybrid wiper blades. Interior upgrades include an LED-illuminated instrument cluster and high-gloss switchgear.

A new 2.0-liter 149hp diesel engine is available as a 2WD and AWD manual, as is a new 2.0-liter gasoline engine. Finally, SsangYong has brought along the Actyon Sports, a production-ready pickup truck that's powered by the new e-XDi active diesel engine. This develops 155hp and 265lb-ft of torque, a 16 percent improvement on its predecessor, and an improved fuel economy of 32mpg. A mesh radiator grille and trapezoidal bumper with stylish black headlight bezels are highlights of the restyled front fascia, while at the back a wide glass area complements the signature transparent rear lamps.
The pick-up's practicality is represented by a large, flat rear deck and inside black and metallic finishes complement an LED illuminated instrument cluster. Heated leather seats, Eco-cruise control and sliding sunroof are other new features occupants can enjoy.
