Video: Matt Farah Takes Hold of World’s Fastest Lotus

With a superior power-to-weight ratio than the Bugatti Veyron, this cheeky little Lotus is ludicrously quick.

Being fast and light and with superior handling are what Lotus models are famous for. Powerful engines are not part of the package given their lightweight bodies, yet one Lotus owner thought it a good idea to take a stock Lotus Exige and give it what can only be described as insane power. Six years later and after numerous upgrades, Californian Frank Profera and his team have managed to squeeze 700hp out of the sport car's 1.8-liter twin-turbocharged engine.

Coupled with its 975kg body, the heavily modified British coupe has a superior power-to-weight ratio than the Bugatti Veyron and Mario Andretti's F1 Lotus, and could well be the fastest Lotus on the planet, assuming one discounts Hennessey's Lotus-based Venom GT.
