Another McLaren GT3 Car in the Blancpain Endurance Series

The fledgling automaker reinforces its ranks in European endurance racing.

McLaren is pushing forward it clients' racing program with the MP4-12C GT3 car. This week at its main showroom at Knightsbridge, London, United Autosport, a racing team from Leeds, UK, revealed its new MP4-12C GT3 car. The event was attended by Ron Dennis, Executive Chairman of McLaren Automotive and McLaren Group, and Bernie Ecclestone, President and CEO, Formula One Management.

With this car the team will contest the Blancpain Endurance Series that will stage six races in six of the most famous European racing circuits: Monza, Silverstone, Paul Ricard, Spa-Francochamps, Nurburging and Navarra. The Blancpain Endurance Series has attracted a strong list of entries for the championship and, with a comprehensive test program scheduled before the first round at Monza, Italy in April, the Leeds-based team plans to be ahead of its rivals in the 2012 gold rush. Most of the major prestige and luxury European auto brands take part in the Blancpain Endurance Series.

The competition is being held in three categories: Pro-Cup, Pro-Am Cup and Gentlemen Trophy. Among the cars participating in the series are Porsche 997 GT3, Ferrari 458 Italia, Dodge Viper, Lamborghini LP600, Aston Martin DBRS9, Audi R8 LMS and BMW Z4.
