Bertone Leaks Sketches of Nuccio Concept Ahead of Geneva Debut

Bertone has released the first preview sketches of its Nuccio Concept, which is set to be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show next month.

Turin-based styling house Bertone will debut its radically styled Nuccio Concept at the Geneva Motor Show and to build the hype, a couple of sketches have been teased. The Nuccio will mark the company's 100-year anniversary, named in honor of its former CEO, Giuseppe 'Nuccio' Bertone who died in 1997. The son of company founder Giovanni Bertone separated the company into two divisions: one for building cars and the other for designing them for clients.

In 2006, Nuccio was inducted into the Automotive Hall of Fame in Detroit for his numerous achievements. Some of the most beautiful cars in history have come from Italy's acclaimed coachbuilders, such as the original Lamborghini Miura and Countach, the Lancia Stratos, Ferrari 308, and several Alfa Romeos including the Giula GT and BAT Concept. Designed by Bertone Design Director, Michael Robinson, Bertone says of its latest concept: "an aesthetic phrasing with a strong emotional impact will progress the brand identity into the future."

Sitting very low to the ground, the mid-engined berlinetta (Italian for little saloon) will have a muscular stance as per Bertone designs of the past and futuristic styling to indicate where the company is heading. As for the powertrain, we'll have to wait for Geneva where it will be unveiled before heading to Beijing, China and Turin later this year.
