The Last Stick-Shift Lamborghini?
As the saying goes, all good things must come to an end. But is this the end of rowing your own gears in a Lamborghini?
The other day we brought you statistics and analysis on Ferrari discontunuing the availability of manual transmissions. But it's not the only one: down the road from Maranello in Sant'Agata Bolognese, Ferrari's "everything you can do, I can do better" arch-rival Lamborghini is giving up the ghost on stick shifts, too. Fast-shifting dual-clutch units are gaining traction (so to speak), prompting exotic automakers to ditch their old-school, three-pedal gearboxes to the benefit of performance, and even fuel economy and emissions.
In this episode of Car and Driver Abroad, Jethro Bovingdon (who arguably has one of the best British names ever) travels to Italy to get behind the wheel of a rear-wheel-drive Lamborghini Gallardo LP 550-2. And yes, it's equipped with a manual.
