BMW Releases M3 DTM Champion Edition

Official details and photos of this special-edition M3 follow a month after it was revealed at the Nurburgring.

Nearly a month ago we brought you the first images and details of a new special edition BMW M3. Revealed to a select group at a trackside celebration at the Nurburgring, the M3 DTM Champion Edition marks a remarkable triumph in the German touring car championship on its first season back in the race. Now BMW has finally followed up with official details and photos. The special edition mimics the racecar which Canadian driver Bruno Spengler drove to the championship.

The M3 DTM Champion Edition is decked out in matte black with carbon fiber aero components, dark chrome trim, racing stripe up the roof, special decals and matching matt black wheels. The cabin is trimmed out with Alcantara control surfaces, black Novillo leather, silver trim and a carbon dashboard accent with Spengler's signature and the car's individual serial number. The DTM edition also includes the Competition and M Driver's packages and all the options. But the best part may be the advanced driving tutelage supervised by Spengler at the Nurburgring that comes included with the car.

Of course all that comes at a price: the sticker reads €99,000.00 in Germany (including taxes). That makes it thirty grand more expensive than a stock M3, which retails in Germany for €68.750. No word yet on Stateside availability, although BMW's American division did release the same information, albeit without US pricing. Only 54 examples will be offered worldwide.
