First Corvette C7 Heading to Auction?

Mysterious Chevrolet is going to Barrett-Jackson’s January auction in Scottsdale, but what is it?

While perusing the list of cars going up for auction at the upcoming Barrett-Jackson auction, we hit upon something rather interesting. Listed as lot 3016 is a Chevrolet with no detailed information whatsoever save for stating it has no reserve. The description reads: "Have you ever wanted to own a piece of Chevy history? This may be your chance! A special Chevrolet model will be revealed during the auction where bidders will have the opportunity to take home this one-of-a-kind vehicle."

It's being reported that GM will auction off the very first production-ready C7 Vette to roll off the Bowling Green assembly line, mirroring a move made by Chrysler's SRT, which sold the first Viper GTS at auction for $300,000 - a whopping $200k over list price. Proceeds of the sale will be donated to charity, so if you're keen to own a piece of future history whilst doing some good at the same time, register for the auction online. The Scottsdale 2013 auction is taking place on January 19 at 8.30 p.m. By then we would have already seen the brand-new Vette at the Detroit Auto Show, where Chevy will unveil it on January 13, a day before the big show opens its doors to the press.
