They're already heavily involved in F3, and not all F3 drivers are being groomed for F1.

VW doesn't need an F1 program. The R&D for it wouldn't exactly translate to their FWD hatchbacks. That's not to bash their cars--they're great. But it's the same reason companies like Mitsubishi were always mainly WRC.

I believe Capito was referring to another one make series like the Jetta TDi Cup, or Scirocco Cup. Perhaps there will be a GTI Cup or CC series? The Motorsport programs aim to bolster model of car sold in the respective country.

It would be pointless to do NASCAR. NASCAR requires OHV v8s and none of the German companies make them. Chevy and ford are the only real competitors because they make the engines. Toyota buys them from Chevy and dodge dropped out

VW/Audi is in everything except for f1 and NASCAR, I am not feeling NASCAR though, VW does not have a large enough market in the US in my opinion. I think they'd go F1 first.

Yeahhh... I can see the advantage for VW to be in NASCAR... But I would rather them not and just say they did... So many other motor-sports they could do that offer technology advances for their road cars...

Toyota got on board with nascar, maybe time for volkswagen. Nascar is HUGE, and volkswagen could see a huge return in their investment.
