Description: Late last month, we reported that Audi was apparently rethinking its R8 e-tron supercar mainly due to the rise cost of batteries and dwindling consumer interest. Although we haven't heard any new...Add Comments24
Mack KatzelDec 01, 2012 After watching the r10s rip up the track in Le Mans, I really want this to happen.
Tony MarroNov 30, 2012 So the top 3 racing manufacturers of the highest tiers (mcl, fer, aud) might be duking it out over the next few years in a hypercar battle...? Sign. Me. Up.
William DownsNov 29, 2012 The Audi etron got canned because they couldn't get any decent range from the car with the performance they wanted, so the project was killed, this on the other hand should be amazing especially if they take ques from the racing program
Stephen DNov 29, 2012 Price is another thing supercar buyers don't care about I think they just thought a Eco supercar is lame and I
Cant bame them
Shelby CassandraNov 28, 2012 People didn't like the etron because of the price. It costed way too much.
Stephen DNov 28, 2012 People lost interest in the e tron because some one who buys a supercar doesn't give a shit about fuel economy I don't think this will be any different

Adam SolomonNov 28, 2012 Hate the R8, it's boring and not unique. I love the idea of putting a diesel in it.
Brad HensonNov 28, 2012 Audi has won 11 of the last 12 Le Mans with their diesels/hybrids, I think they know what they doing
William DownsNov 28, 2012 James shut up and go learn something, considering Audi has been owning LeMans for I can't even remember how long with there diesel race cars
James SalabaNov 28, 2012 Diesel is for trucks only! And anyway if you can afford supercar then you can afford petrol too!
Adam BeiersdorferNov 28, 2012 They planned on making a TDI prior to the Hybrid... We'll see a diesel in an R8... But I highly doubt it would be a manual... The tranny couldn't live up to the torque of the last one, that's why it was killed off... :-(
Alex BouckleyNov 28, 2012 They're not making this...
Cian Mac GearailtNov 28, 2012 1000pd/ft just translates into alot of tire smoke and unusable power. Also hopefully it will be available in manual thets the only reason why i like the r8 becouse of the v10 manual
Shelby CassandraNov 28, 2012 Wolfgang Dweirheimer is also planning for a 280mpg vehicle that would supposedly be based on the A1 platform. This diesel hybrid is much cooler though!
William DownsNov 28, 2012 Finally the r8 will have its own drivetrain, R8 has always had a soft spot but always bothered me that it was basically just a gallardo in a different skin, not that it was a bad thing but this is gonna be great.. can't wait
Spencer WarkentinNov 28, 2012 @braxton I saw the V12 TDI concept in Detroit a while back when it debuted and I think they were saying around 750 ft/lbs tq
Braxton Omgbased BookerNov 28, 2012 Was really hoping for sum ball park specs of how much tq this thing might have
Description: Inspiration would likely be taken from the German automaker's Le Mans-winning prototypes that have propelled Audi into the record books under diesel power. Whether the road-going supercar would g...Add Comments0
Adam BeiersdorferNov 28, 2012 Huh... That wasn't what was supposed to be said... Odd... Anyway... This concept Pre-dated the GT... So really the GT took some design cues from this... Which isn't bad at all to me either
Adam BeiersdorferNov 28, 2012 Oh I don't know the A1 is unique... It has some cool options for a car it's size and price...
Raschard JacksonNov 28, 2012 So it basically looks exactly like an R8 GT. no problem with me! That's my fav Audi!
Awesome
