Mazda MX-5 Super25 Races to SEMA

Mazda pays tribute to its endurance racing history with a new MX-5 concept at this year's SEMA show.

Although an all-new MX-5 is just a year or so away, Mazda clearly isn't finished with the current third-gen model as it has just unveiled the MX-5 Super25 Concept at the SEMA Show. Picking up where last year's show entry, the turbocharged Super20 Concept left off, the Super25 goes a step further with more of a focus on endurance racing. To make this happen, Mazda added a set of customized PIAA 40 Series halogens up front to keep the road ahead brightly lit during day and night racing.

Along with other track-required additions such as a Sparco Evo competition racing seat, six-point racing harness, a competition steering wheel and full roll cage, the Super25 Concept sits on a set of 17-inch Volk Racing six-spoke wheels wearing BFGoodrich g-Force tires. Mazda opted to paint the Super25 in the core colors of its MAZDASPEED Motorsports division - black, gray and red - as well as giving it the "55" racing number that was first painted on the sides of the iconic Mazda 787 endurance racer that won the 24 of Le Mans back in 1991.
