C/D Drives Koenigsegg Agera R

Jethro Bovingdon checks out one of the fastest cars in the world and finds it to also be one of the best- looking...and sounding.

Following Koenigsegg's announcement that the Agera R would be coming to America, Car and Driver's European editor Jethro Bovingdon spent a day with the hypercar on the Swedish carmaker's private track and closed runway. Those with seven figures to spend looking for a car that tops out at over 270 mph can now get an idea of what to expect of this brutal machine, And make no mistake about it: it is brutal, with a twin-turbo 5.0-liter V8 generating 1,100 horsepower and 885 pound-feet of torque.

The Agera R boasts one of the highest power-to-weight ratios in the business and can accelerate from 0-62 mph in 2.9 seconds. Thrusting to 200 mph, it destroys the Veyron by more than four seconds, all the while creating guttural sounds worthy of its monstrous capabilities.
