Toyota Previews Fishing Tundra, Baja FJ for SEMA

The Ultimate Fishing Tundra and TRD FJ Cruiser Baja-themed off-roader concept will debut at this year's SEMA show in Las Vegas.
Toyota has previewed a pair of SEMA-bound concepts in the form of the tackle-box-on-wheels Ultimate Fishing Tundra and a TRD-tuned, Baja-ready FJ Cruiser. To create the angler's dream Tundra, Toyota employed the services of its fisherman friend Britt Myers. The pro angler offered his advice as to what the concept should contain, such as a covered truck bed that hides a motorized storage system for easy access to tackle, reels, rods and a refrigerator.

Toyota has packed the Tundra with screens displaying Navionics lake-mapping options and replaced the rear bench seat with two buckets. It also added a center console running from the dash to the rear cabin wall. The truck has also been fitted with a 12-inch lift kit, 20-inch Mud Grappler tires and improved brakes, while the 5.7-liter V8 gains a TRD supercharger and new exhaust system for added grunt. The Baja-themed off-roader study, meanwhile, is based on an FJ Cruiser, with Toyota's high performance arm Toyota Racing Development performing the modifications.
TRD upgraded and stiffened the chassis/body structure and added an underbody "exoskeleton" to give it more serious off-roading capabilities and protection. 60mm Bilstein racing shocks have been fitted to the front suspension for a 1.3-inch lift, and a 50mm set with remote reservoirs fitted in the rear. 17-inch TRD Midnight Black beadlock-style wheels wrapped in BFGoodrich All-Terrain tires will help it attack any terrain it faces, while a TRD supercharger gives the FJ's 4.0-liter V6 a 25 percent boost in output, rated at 345 horsepower and 340 pound-feet of torque.
