Alfa is officially coming back to the United States (eventually). This news may not excite many gearheads, but it should. Alfas are affordable, Italian (stylish and sexy), have great engine notes and very tuner-friendly. The Alfas highlighted here have all been worked on by some of Europe's top tuners, including Novitec and Autodelta. If you're a fan of affordable Italian cars that go decently fast and sound absolutely fantastic, then continue reading ahead.
Novitec did its part to make the Alfa Rome Giulietta a little more fun to drive, tweaking the suspension and engine of every gas and diesel model, with bumps in power ranging from 15-30 horses. Additional additions include stainless steel mufflers, alloy wheels ranging in size from 18 to 20 inches an adjustable coilover suspension and a nifty new body kit.
Romeo Ferraris and Autodelta teamed up to create a sportier and faster version of the now-discontinued Brera. Autodelta added a new body kit consisting of a new front bumper and rear bumper fascia and side skirts. New springs and shocks were also added. The Alfa's ECU was remapped and a centrifugal supercharger and sports air filter were added to bring total horsepower to 358 and torque to 325 lb-ft, a bump of 98hp and 87 lb-ft of torque. The Brera's top speed is now 162 mph and it can sprint from 0 to 62 in 5 seconds.
Autodelta was reportedly working on a tune job for the Alfa Romeo
8C Competizione. The tuned sports coupe was given a modest power bump of 17hp, bringing the Ferrari
-sourced 4.7-liter V8 engine up to 444hp. Upgrades to the chassis and suspension were said to be in the works as well.
Novitec gave a much-needed power boost to the Alfa's teeny-tiny MiTo hatch. Both the hatch's 1.4-liter turbo four and its 1.6-liter JTD diesel engines were tuned. The former received a 30hp bump (bringing it to 186hp) while the latter got a 20hp increase. Suspension-wise, Novitec offers sport springs that drop the height of the MiTo by 40mm or an adjustable coilover system. Rounding out the package are 18-inch wheels and an aerodynamic body kit.
