Aston Martin Recalls V12 Vantage

A total of 169 cars are potentially affected by a Tire Pressure Monitoring System programming error in Aston's baby twelve.

Aston Martin has announced the recall of its V12 Vantage coupes, specifically those built for the 2011 and 2012 model years, which equates to 169 units. Fortunately there is no problem with the 6.0-liter V12, as the trouble apparently centers around the programming of the cars' Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), which is failing to trigger the necessary warning light when cold inflation pressure decreases by 25 percent. Instead the warning light isn't being triggered until the pressure drops by 31 percent.

In the case of the V12 Vantage the resulting tire pressure is 25 PSI, which is 2 PSI less than the minimal acceptable level for the front tires. Only 148 of the 169 North American cars affected by the recall have been delivered. The 21 outstanding units are to be put on sales hold until the TPMS software has been reprogrammed. Customers are to be notified of the recall in due course, and those affected will have the matter rectified by dealers free of charge.
