Porsche Announces New Cayenne Turbo S

Say hello to the very pinnacle of the SUV market, now with 550 horsepower.

4.3 seconds. That used to be supercar territory. But this isn't a supercar. Not in the conventional sense, anyway. It's an SUV. But a super one at that. We're talking about the new Porsche Cayenne Turbo S, which has just been announced in Europe to cap the German automaker's SUV range. It benefits from the 550-horsepower twin-turbo V8 in the Panamera Turbo S that offers 50 more horses than the Cayenne Turbo thanks to revised intake manifold, remapped ECU and higher turbo boost pressure.

Hydraulic roll bars in the Dynamic Chassis Control system aid the Active Suspension Management to keep the big SUV in check, with Torque Vectoring Plus to channel the grunt, to borrow an old Subaru slogan, from the wheels that slip to the wheels that grip. The otherwise optional Sport Chrono pack comes standard, including a central electronic differential and telematics system on the dashboard. Pricing has yet to be announced for the US market, however the Cayenne Turbo S carries a suitably substantial 151,702-euro sticker price (including VAT) in Germany, where deliveries will begin at the start of the new year.
