Fallen in love with Jaguar's all-new F-Type? Then you're in luck, because Jaguar wants to continue the joy with an upcoming BMW 3 Series fighter and SUV.
After many years of waiting, Jaguar finally delivered its highly anticipated F-Type roadster to an enthusiastic press and public at the 2012 Paris Motor Show. The drop-top and the upcoming coupe were described by Jaguar brand manager Adrian Hallmark as "the core of our range, and from now on it is our starting point". According to a report coming from UK publication Autocar, that starting point will likely translate into a new sedan and SUV. The latter could draw on sister-company Land Rover's expertise, possibly based on the Evoque.

In order to better compete with the likes of the BMW 3 Series and the red-hot luxury SUV market, Jaguar is using its new F-Type as inspiration to expand its lineup as it seeks a greater piece of the premium car market. No exact details regarding a production timeframe were given, but Hallmark added that "Whatever we do will be driven by the three pillars of our brand: innovation, design and performance leadership." Sounds like a solid expansion plan to us, and with the F-Type influencing future design, a future Jag sports sedan could do a better job of attracting 3 Series customers than the old X-Type ever could.
