McLaren MP4-12C Rendered as a Spyder

The roofless version of the MP4-12C is coming soon.

We've known for a little while that McLaren is planning an open-top variant of their MP4-12C sports car and that the MP4-12S (S for Spyder) will have a carbon-fiber retractable roof and a new rear to accommodate it. Using this information, Teamspeed and artist Wildspeed have collaborated on a handful of renderings of what the Spyder may look like when it gets released within the next year. If their judgement is to be trusted this is going to be one beautiful looking supercar convertible.

The three-piece roof will flip backwards and retract into a compartment between the engine and passengers, turning the coupe to a roadster in 17 seconds. A clear cover is also believed to feature providing an uninterrupted view of the same 592hp 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8 engine of the coupe that sits perfectly behind the cabin.
