Video: Porsche GT3 RS 4.0 Sets New Braking Record

The Porsche 911 GT3 RS 4.0 has just set a new world record for braking, beating out the reigning Koenigsegg Agera R.

Not long ago, the Koenigsegg Agera R set a world braking record going from 300 km/h (186.4 mph) to zero in just 6.66 seconds. That test was conducted by German magazine Sport Auto and it helped to solidify the reputation of the Swedish supercar as a supercar to be reckoned with. And now the same publication has just performed the same test, but on a Porsche 911 GT3 RS 4.0. That car has astoundingly set a new braking world record of only 6.5 seconds.

And the story gets even better, as the Porsche beat out other contenders such as the McLaren MP4-12C, Bugatti Veyron Super Sport, and the Bentley Continental GT.

The GT3 RS 4.0 is powered by a naturally-aspirated 4.0-liter engine with 500hp and 339lb-ft of torque. It can go from 0 to 60 mph in 3.8 seconds and has a top speed of 193 mph. Only 600 units were built at a price of $185,000 each.
