Report: Delayed Bugatti Galibier Redesigned, Could Still Make 2013

The Bugatti Galibier is set to return eventually with a new look and four-figure horsepower.

Three weeks ago, Bugatti CEO Wolfgang Durheimer announced that the Galibier would be delayed due to its lack of pizazz. Monday afternoon he told reporters that the super-sedan could possibly still begin production before the end of this year, however it will be seriously redesigned from its original concept form. According to a report by Autocar, Durheimer said the Galibier was currently "in the second half of the design phase" and that it should appear in front of the VW Group board in mid-December.

"I will suggest we continue development, but there will be some remarkable changes from the original concept. The design will be different, especially from the B-pillar back, the ingress and regress to the rear seats will be improved, as will the legroom and ergonomics, the car will be a little longer, and the power of the engine will be at least four figures," said Durheimer. That means the proposed 900-something hp mark from the Veyron's W16 engine will get a further increase. The Galibier was originally set to go on sale in 2013 for around $2.3 million. It could yet make the deadline if the French company gets the go-ahead from their German handlers.
