Spied: 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe

The new 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe has been spotted testing in the European Alps.

Our spy photogs have caught the latest photos of the 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe. Spotted with minimal camouflage on its front end, the larger 2013 edition was testing in the European Alps. Without its front-end bag, you can see the grille and how the new model is shaping up. The styling shown on the mule reveals a more fluid shape, particularly around the window frames with the hood sitting much higher than on the previous model.

As we previously reported, Hyundai may follow Ford's path and give the Santa Fe a 2.0-liter turbo engine that will produce a very respectable 274 horses and gives the crossover a boost of confidence in competition against the 2011 Ford Edge and 2011 Jeep Liberty, both rival the Santa Fe. We can also expect the Santa Fe to receive the current model's four-cylinder and V6 units with the edition of direct-injection technology to provide for a more fuel efficient car. There will most likely be a six-speed manual to remain standard with a six-speed automatic as an option for choice of transmission.

The upcoming 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe will likely make its debut in the second half of next year, possibly in time for the 2012 LA Auto Show, with sales to follow shortly after. Photos: CarPix.
