Chrysler Sales Heat Up In July

Chrysler sales increased 20 percent in July, giving them their best July since 2007.

Chrysler sales increase 20 percent in the month of July and give the American automaker their best July sales figures since 2007. Chrysler reported U.S. sales of 112,026 units, which is a 20 percent increase compared to last July's total of 93,313 units. Jeep remains Chrysler's best-selling vehicle as sales were up 46 percent compared to last year's July total. The Jeep Wrangler was the best-selling Jeep model in July with a record sales volume of 14,355 units and was second to only the Ram pickup truck.

Chrysler brand sales increased 5 percent in July, fueled by sales of the new Chrysler 300 full-size sedan and the Chrysler 200 mid-size sedan. Chrysler also introduced the upcoming 2012 Chrysler 300 SRT8 with its 6.4-liter HEMI V8 engine. Next up is Dodge, which posted a 9 percent sales increase in July. Dodge has earned three awards in the J.D. Power and Associates 2011 APEAL Study for the Challenger, Charger and Durango. The Challenger scored highest in the Midsize Sporty Car class and the Durango took the top spot in the Midsize Crossover/SUV segment.

The Charger took top honors in the Large Car segment and was the most improved model in the industry. The Ram pickup truck is up 26 percent from last year and according to U.S. News & World Report, has ranked the 2011 Ram 1500 as the best full-size pickup truck. The Ram 1500 got high praises for its HEMI V8 performance and was also named Edmunds.com 2011 Consumers Top Rated Large Light-Duty Truck.
