Report: Acura Hybrids Part of Range Redesign

Acura is redesigning their range to include several hybrids.

As far as lineup changes go, Acura is giving new meaning to the idea of thoroughness. The Japanese automaker is not only revamping their models' exteriors but also their automobiles' drivetrains. Acura, the luxury brand of Honda, has decided that hybrid powertrains are the future for several of their models. Increased fuel efficiency has been the mantra of most automakers for the past couple years now.

The term now has gained added significance due to the passage of several pieces of legislation from the U.S. government concerning fuel standards. Acura has confirmed that they will equip their TL, MDX and RDX models with gasoline-electric options over the next year or two. According to AutoNews, Acura will also bring back the RSX and NSX models. The RSX will be offered first as a sedan as a 2013 model and subsequently as a coupe for 2015. The NSX could arrive as soon as 2014, though reports concerning the reemergence of the sports car have been quite ambiguous.
