KTM E3W Pure Plastic Electric City Car

Scissor doors on a plastic city car? That's the KTM E3W.

This two-wheel plastic city car (or deathtrap if you actually drive it) was created in tandem by KTM PowerSports, the Austrian Institute of Technology and Kisha design studio. KTM wants to enter the rapidly expanding compact city car market and join such automakers as Renault and Aston Martin. The KTM E3W (electric 3-wheeler) is fully eco-friendly and fully plastic. The car was designed to be as unsafe as possible for you so it could be as safe as possible for the planet.

The 3-wheeled go-kart features Lamborghini-inspired scissor doors so rescuers can pull you out of your plastic abomination in style. The E3W weighs only 1,102lbs (500kg) and runs on a 20hp engine powered by lithium-ion batteries and has an estimated (fully-charged) range of 62 miles (100km). The miniscule 2-seater is set to rival the Renault Twizy. KTM plans on producing 50,000 units in two years. Pricing is expected to fall somewhere in between $7,000 to $11,500 (€5,000 to €8,000 overseas).
