Nearly on the verge of bankruptcy, Saab is planning to unleash the 9-5 Sport Combi in the US market. With sales declining for the Swedish automaker, the Saab 9-5 Sport Combi could be their last ditch effort to save the company.
Swedish automaker Saab has been in the news a lot lately, but not in a good way. The company has been on the verge of bankruptcy on a weekly basis and despite the hard times, Saab is preparing to launch the 9-5 Sport Combi in the US market. These newly leaked photos show the new Sport Combi. It will likely be equipped with features such as a panoramic sunroof, keyless start, cooled glove box, heated seats, and an eight-inch touch-screen navigation system.
Under the hood, the 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine will produce an output of 220hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. The motor will be mated to a six-speed automatic transmission and Saab's Cross-Wheel Drive (XWD) system. Pricing for the Saab 9-5 Sport Combi begins at $38,525 and tops off at $49,565. With fellow Swedish automaker Volvo
ending sales of their wagon in the US, the Sport Combi may be the next best thing for some. In light of their current financial situation, Saab (and their new Chinese backers) is hoping the 9-5 Sport Combi can produce some solid sales results. They really need them.
