Video: Porsche Will Return to Le Mans in 2014


Porsche is set to return to racing at Le Mans in 2014. The 'LMP1 sports prototype' is expected to achieve success and continue Porsche's excellent record at the Le Mans 24 Hours, claiming a record 16 wins since the 1970s. The new Porsche racer will feature some type of hybrid technology.
Porsche is set to return to Le Mans in 2014 and will do so with the new ‘LMP1 sports prototype.' Racing in the LMP1 class, the prototype will feature hybrid technology. The new Porsche is expected to follow in its predecessors footsteps in terms of success. "Motorsport was always an essential part of the Porsche brand, so for us it was only a matter of time before we returned as a factory to the top league of racing. Porsche's successes in Le Mans are unrivalled," said CEO Matthias Muller.

The German automaker has won the Le Mans 24 Hours a record 16 times since the 1970s, however recently they have been putting their focus on GT racing. Since joining the VW group, renewed focus has been put on moving back into the world of top-level racing.
