Cadillac Updates 2012 SRX With New V6 Engine

The Cadillac SRX luxury crossover receives a more powerful and even more fuel efficient V6 engine for 2012.

Although the current generation Cadillac SRX has been on the market for just two years, the automaker has just announced some important updates for the 2012 model year of their luxury crossover. The most significant update comes under the hood, where GM has wisely chosen to drop both the 3.0-liter naturally aspirated V6 along with the 2.8-liter turbocharged V6. Their combined replacement is a new direct-injected 3.6-liter V6 that produces 308hp and 265 lb-ft of torque.

Even with the increase in horsepower, the new engine delivers comparable fuel economy to its predecessors due to its more efficient design and ECO Mode. Other updates include standard Bluetooth on all models, a new 20-inch wheel pattern, a Xenon Blue Metallic paint option and a few new interior color choices. Engineers have also revised the Base and Sport suspension systems in order to improve overall ride quality. Another engineering upgrade is a new sound-absorbing material placed throughout the crossover that will reportedly give it a quieter ride. Prices begin at $36,060 and it will arrive in dealerships this fall.
