Um guys the C7 corvette is comming out soon, so if the camaro beats the vette, then it's only for two or so years.
Yah it would take quite a bit to get me out of my vette and into this bathtub but beating me in the quarter mike would make me consider it and others would buy it. These companies do quite a bit to avoid cannibalism.

Price for ZL1 are going to be high and probably over the vette (base), but were going to have to see, and if its more than the gt500, supersnake anyone.
Im interested in seeing where the price falls, I doubt GM will cannibalize corvette sales but 570hp for under 45k is very impressive and far better than the GT500.
The corvette grand sport will beat this in a straight line.... I wouldn't worry about competing with the corvette.

Does anyone remember the 90's when LT1's were ruling the streets? It's strange to think that in less then 20 years we doubled normal cars hp. I remember 383's with 400 hp and I was like dam! Now the car comes with almost 600. It's amazing.
I think the mustang is alot lighter than the maro. So they'll need more than 20 extra horses. But the stang has initial grip problems so chevy should work on the rear end
The ZR1 is still gonna be faster. It still has more hp and weighs a lot less. Can't wait for this thing to come out!
@ tony, yeah the whole purpose of the ZL1 is to compete with the GT500, but this article is suggesting that the ZR1 & ZL1 will compete.

Chevy has no reason to battle themselves so I cant see them making the camaro better than the vette. They purposely have the vette as the leader
guys all that wont matter because you know the people at FORD will build another GT500 thats stronger then the ZL1 & vise versa (FORD & CHEVY been at it for a long time) its expected!
they took some technology out if the vette to the ZL1 like the launch control system, but the vette will still be quicker, why would Chevy compete with themselves.
Personally, I like the Maro's design ALOT more than the Vette's watered-down Ferrari look. But that's just my 2 cents
ZR1 price equals supersnake price, 1100HP!!! Just saying, and i think the GTR beats the Z06 in the track because it has proper downforce. I think the Z06 doesnt have a wing because chevy wants to keep its straight line speed higher.
for the amount of money you will be spending for zr1. If I had the choice/money I honestly would buy back my old rx7 or 93-98supra or even NSX.
You can't even bother going on the R35, when it has less HP and more weight than the zr1, and can still keep up, even better

To the SRT8 buyers, hit eBay, they have a ton for sale, less 5.7's and hardly any 6's. Right now the 6's are popular cause gas prices. Also camaro needs less models, too many versions! Go back to 6, RS and Z28 with a couple engine options.
Michael... Please look up lap times, the 2012 Z06 bets the latest R35 GTR around the nurburgring by 3 seconds... The ZR1 beats it by 5 or 6. Check your facts.

Well when I compare cars, I compare them by price. Comparing those two when the ZR1 costs half as much is crazy to me'. I'll admit I'm a Vette fanboy but regardless there are only a few people on this app that give credit where it's due when it comes
A GT2 RS's 0-60 time is 3.4. That is from the Porsche website. If you know a GT2 to run 2.9 and be faster than a ZR1, then it's not stock. So ya, buy a $245k car (GT2 RS) and mod it, then brag about beating a stock ZR1 ($110k car)
@Patrick I don't really care if the ZR1 is faster than the 911. I know the GT2 has clocked a 0-60 of 2.9 which is faster than a ZR1's. Cheers from a fellow Oklahoman even though we disagree.

yea the challenger is sweet lookin and it sounds nice but at almost 6000lb its goin nowhere fast might as well be a two door charger, moded out it cud be fast iv seen some but stock its just a eye candy nothin els to it

@Matt, where r u getting your numbers? They were talking about the 911 Turbo which 0-60 time is 3.5 Now the 911 Turbo S is faster than the ZR1 at 3.1 (these numbers are from Porsche's website)

Honestly, I can't find anyone selling a used SRT8 Chally within my Tri-State vicinity. Check out Edmunds yourself. Nobody in CA, NV, or AZ is crazy enough to get rid of a sweet ass ride like that.
You can definitely get a used one for that much. I've seen them around. It'd be worth it if you ask me.
If I can get an SRT8 Chally for $35k,, Patrick, then I'm B-lining to the dodge dealership right now. Not the case here in soCal. This ZL1 is estimated MSRP of over $50k. (Z06 price territory)
I'll keep my f body as well and if I get around to shelling out around 35k for a new muscle car I'm getting an SRT8 Chally. I'll have too many projects though with my Jeep and C5 Z06 though
To tell you the truth I love my fbody and I would love another camaro but last time a drove one those blind spots were terrible. It had the visibility of a corn maze. Once they fix that and looks good, I'm buying.
At some point hp is just stupid much, I personally couldn't afford that as a daily driver, let alone as a brand new toy for the garage... Big question is, did chevy fix the blind spots that the pillar creates? That was the complaint, not lack of hp.
with a 100 grand ill take a ZR1 over a Porsche thats the same price all day (you get the most for your money with the ZR1)

something about it doesn't seem finished, like it's missing something. And the rear end is just too plain. Loved my 92, but when I traded it in a few months ago (valued for 700 lol) I got the challenger.

the exhaust is similar to the Maserati Quattroporte GTS, quiet in touring mode, then when u put it in Sport+ it roars!

The challengers interior is by far the most comfy, I test drove all 3 before buying the dodge. And I drive more than I race, so I really don't need to be the ling of the road, but I always need comfort. And you will get more ladies in a dodge! :)
Challenger is known to be the heaviest between the camaro and mustang. Which slows it down considerably. Don't take that 2 ton beast to the track cuz the mustang will tear it to shreds. The 'stang comes out on top every time. Known fact
@AJ You're probably right. Chevy usually rewards the buyers of their top models with a nicer interior. I just cannot stand chevy anymore. And I wasn't comparing the Merc and the Camaro, I was simply saying that this probably won't be faster.
Still hate the cockpit. Blindspots out of this world and the rear view mirror is right in my eyeline while driving. Not worse than the challenger though.
Now all the camaro needs is a touchscreen navi option and it'll b damn near perfect.
@Keenan- Idk where u c cheap cuz this is a vast improvement over the 2010. There's alcantara and suede everywhere and the bland blank plastic passenger side view has some breakup now. New wheel, new shifter, it's gorgeous.
Ultimately, the TGUK:SS/AMG comparo was to show that which ever car you buy, you get your money's worth. Neither one is overpriced nor underpriced for that matter. That was really all there was to it...
Same parts used from other interiors help keep costs down, yeah my dodge shares alot with the rest of their line, but I could afford it. If they made a unique interior, price goes up and I just like it instead of drive it.
That entire test made no sense. Te results, I think, boiled down to "If you spend double the money on a car, you can purchase a better car."
